I've been with a guy for over 5 years. We've been ring shopping on his request. He got all excited about what he thought would be cool to be engraved on our rings. However, instead of saying our couple name (eg. Miber and Amchael for Michael and Amber), he stated Mina and Tichael (I'm guessing for Michael and Tina). The fact that he said both names which did not even come close to our couple names makes me go "wtf?!"
At first, he tried to cover it up and said that he said Michael and Amber (he only said this once since I'm sure he knows that he said the wrong names as well). I asked who Tina is and he states that he doesn't know a Tina.
I'm so hurt because I thought we were doing so well and that he wanted to marry me. However, how can he confuse our names so easily? I can't even think of a guy's name on the spot and how to put it with my name as a couple name. Yet, he can so easily blur out his names mixed with another girl's name in two ways so perfectly and easily? My name is not even close to her name! And all he can say afterward is that he was too excited and said it out of excitement.
...He was excited to tell me... but to use the wrong names?
Oh, and it doesn't help that a few years ago he was so convinced that I was the girl he went with to some place. He even insisted that we go there to bring back my memories. ...and of course, I've never been to that place. Doesn't help that he yet confused me with someone else to another place again later that night. That took me a few weeks to get over (we were together for about 2-3 years around that time).
So yes, he's a great guy. He listens and tries to always be there for me. He helps me out in any way he can. However, now I'm starting to wonder if he's been doing that because he realized that he made mistakes and just wanted me to be happy.
Does this guy really want to be with me? If he does, how can he confuse me with someone else so easily? 3 times? To me, saying that you want your couple name with another girl on our rings is like saying the wrong girl's name on the altar or in the heat of the moment.
I'm so confused. Is there hope for this relationship?
I don't think I can handle it if he ever does anything like this yet again. Last time, I told myself that 3rd strike you're out. This time, he's stating that he did not confusing me with anyone and that he doesn't know why he said those names. However... I really don't know what to make of it.
