I don't understand my crush, please help?

So my crush, he always hangs around girls, but he's not gay or anything. He's just like that. Therefore, it's really hard to tell if he likes me or not. Sometimes, he offers to carry my books, but then, he would do it for the other girls as well. He talks to me when he can, but he talks to them as well. Sometimes, he's SO sweet around me, and other times, he acts like he doesn't care if I'm there or not. There have been a few times where he has just made my day by saying something really adorable to me, but then I realise he must say that to all of his friends that are girls. When we talk, he looks into my eyes, but I'm pretty sure he does that to the other girls as well. If something is wrong, he always cares about me, but it's the same with the other girls as well. Some days, he'll come and say hi to me, and other days, he acts as if I'm not even there. I see him taking quick glances at me sometimes, but I'm pretty sure he takes quick glances at everyone. His behaviour is just doing my head in because I don't understand. UGH!!! Please, can any of you make any sense out of his behaviour? Does it mean he doesn’t like me? If so, do you have any advice on how I can get him to like me?
