What does it mean when someone says it feels surreal to be with you?

I have been spending time with this guy who I've been acquainted with for several months. We've spent quite a bit of time together over the last week or two. He told me that he wasn't expecting me to want to be friends with him, and at one point he said "these last couple of weeks that we've been spending time together have just been surreal to me"
Why did he say this?

It means he probably thinks your out of his league. Guys are more subconscious then women when it comes to dating. and often times we feel like we are not good enough or dont deserve to be with some women. To him you are probably one of the best things that has ever happened to him which is probably why he says it feels so surreal.

really I think it means that it feels like nothing he's ever felt, like sort of unreal.

he is falling for you. it means the time he has had with you doesn't feel real , it feels weird and crazy to him because he never experienced this before.

I think what he's saying is that the time he's spent with you has been above and beyond the ordinary realm of reality. (In a good way!)

This may be harsh, but if you have to ask people what he means you must be lacking some common sense. You said it yourself "he was not expecting me to be friends with him."
