Alright, let's be honest we love to see models; their big eyes, angel soft skin and perfectly photoshopped bodies fascinate us. As a kid I remember looking at a magazine with a beautiful woman and thinking, "oh I'll never be as beautiful as her." But in reality that was a fake imagine and I was being cursed by society. Here are a few reasons why having a realistic body image is Important.
1. It promotes body positivity
When you feel good about your body, you take care of it, show it off, eat right and workout a hour a day. you have a healthy self esteem and the chances of you getting a eating disorder or dysmorphia goes down tremendously.
2. It helps you stop comparing yourself to others
Hey, want to destroy your self esteem? Compare yourself to people around you and you'll feel like shit in no time. We all gotta stop doing that if we want to have some form of dignity. When I was 14 these guys showed me a picture of a super skinny girl with pretty eyes and told me I was ugly and fat and she was skinny and pretty, and then started to ogle over her beauty. I was 14 at the time it didn't really faze me because guys told me that all the time and everyone treated me that way. I used to think everyone was better then me somehow because they either have something I want, a certain skill or they were more respected then me. Instead of feeling sorry for myself I shot for the stars and created my own goals.
3. You can inspire others
You know how seeing someone's smile or wave to you can brighten your day? Or seeing someone you love happy somehow makes you feel a little better about yourself? If people see you happy, improving yourself, and your joy and happiness will probably rub off on others and maybe make the world a happier place.
