I never judge people at the gym, cause if they're there it's cause they want to better themselves, either in appearance or in health, so both a good cause... The only 3 problems I have with "some" people at the gym, are those who don't wear deodorant and fumigate the entire place... real! gross! and also those who sit at machines to be on their phone, and you need to use it.. like WTF? why are you even here if you're half of the time on your phone, go use it in the bathroom or something, but don't occupy the equipment if you're not gonna use it... and the third, when people sweat soooo much and don't clean up after they use it, leaving it all sweaty and filthy and you're next... ewwwwk! xD
ANYWAY!! congrats on your accomplishment. Don't mind what others think, keep your mind set to achieve whatever you're set out to do.01 Reply
Asker+1 yHahaha I hate people on their phones at the gym!! It's like, workout or get off the machine!!! Thats my biggest pet peeve!!
And thank you! I appreciate that!

It's true that it's virtually impossible not to judge most people around you, regardless of your gender, race, weight, appearance, etc.. If anyone does happen to have the thought about why you're there crossing their mind, I wouldn't let it bother you.
In the end, everyone is wanting to attain a healthier, nicer looking body, the only difference being that some start from a different set point. Try to get in a mind-set when you get to the gym where you just focus on your work-out and relaxing, sort of meditative versus worrying about what those around you may be thinking. :)23 Reply
Asker+1 yThank you! That's why I take my headphones. I drowned out everything else and focus on pushing myself.

no problem. :)
&Same here, I love going to the gym- as soon as I walk in just turning on my music to tune everything and everyone out, giving me some time to reflect on any issues as well as good things going on while benefiting my body as well. Win-win situation, trust me but before you know it it'll become something you crave whenever you get stressed out.
Asker+1 yHaha I agree! And I think I'm already there. If I miss a day or two I actually miss the gym and get excited about going back. Lol
+1 yIf I ever look at a bigger person in the gym I'm either impressed they're making a lifestyle change, or trying to find a subtle non offensive way to correct their form.
People don't realize how important correct form is to getting the most out of your workouts workout, but it's so hard to correct someone's form without coming off as an asshole lol.
You're doing a great job :). Look at it this way: if you see these people once and never again then they obviously aren't as dedicated as you are to a healthier lifestyle, and if you see these people every day they get to see you progress over time! If you think their looks are judgmental, watch their looks change over the year or more you go to the gym and be proud of yourself21 Reply
Asker+1 yAwww that's sweet! And thank you! Honestly if someone came up to me and showed me I was doing something wrong I would be totally ok with it! I would rather someone tell me instead of watching me be an idiot. Haha. I want to get the most out of my workout.

+1 yCongrats on the weight loss! I have nothing but respect for anyone at the gym. That person is always a step ahead of someone who just stayed home and sat on the couch. You're most likely paranoid about people judging you. Anyone who does is clearly an idiot whose opinion you shouldn't care about anyway. I used to be a personal trainer, and I told all my clients "check your ego at the door." Don't compare yourself to where others are, and don't worry what anyone else is thinking, just PUT IN WORK. Congrats again and keep up the great work!👍

Asker+1 yAwww that's awesome! And I really like your motto!! And thank you very much!!
I always go and hit on the heavier girls at the gym. I call it investing in my future. Bc once she's sexy and fit and getting all the guys, she'll remember that I used to think she was hot even before she lost those pounds... ;) hahaha!!

Asker+1 yHahaha omg you're ridiculous!! Now the real question is would you date them while they are losing weight? Or are you just gonna wait until they get all sexified! Haha :-p
Asker+1 yHahahaha I can't deal with you, you are absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for the laugh!! Although I cannot believe you compared dating a big girl to stock market trends. Hahaha 😂😂😂

Apart from there's this one old lady that goes to my gym and she's always lifting weights and never makes any progress she's still flabby and chubby and she goes to the gym like 5 days a week. I just genuinely feel bad for her because she's been going to the gym since like January and made very, very little progress, but maybe that's because she's like 70 years old. I hear the older you get the harder it gets to lose weight/build muscle.01 Reply
Asker+1 yAwww that poor women! I feel bad for her too! At least she's determined. Lol
+1 yI think they are awesome. I've made friends with some of them. I am very impressed by their determination and efforts. It is not an easy thing to do. I love seeing them there!
Way to go for you! Just keep being consistent and you'll see the results you want soon enough!32 Reply
Asker+1 yThanks lady! I wish you came to my gym! Haha

We could be workout buddies! I'd love it! Keep up the good work!
I am always pleased to see heavier people at a gymnasium, because it means that they have made the decision to do something about it, which shows awareness and strength of character (if they persist with fitness and weight loss).
Only an idiot would jeer or sneer at a larger person who was working to do something about their situation. Such idiots are unworthy of a moment of your time.33 Reply
Asker+1 yWell thanks! It's not easy to stay motivated, especially when you put in all this work and the scale doesn't move but I'm determined to be healthier!

Have you looked at your diet? Removing sugar, trans fats, fluoride (mains water and toothpaste) and genetically-modified faux food can make a huge difference. If you drink water from which the fluoride has been removed, take an iodine supplement (there is a good one at www.infowars.com), eat only natural foods (cut out the processed and semi-processed foods that pack the supermarkets), maximise protein and minimise carbohydrates you should notice a big difference.
I assume that you are American, which means that you have a serious problem with the GMO poison from Monsanto that is passed off as food in your country. For example, nearly all corn sold in the US is GMO. GMO corn and the corn syrup that is made from it is used to sweeten just about all the processed food on the supermarket shelves. It is killing you. Look up what happened to the rats that were fed GMO corn.
Right now I would kill for a slice of baked New York blueberry cheesecake, but I know that the cheesecake would kill me. - lol
Asker+1 yHaha well I have been eating healthier. I cut out all fast foods and sodas. I keep a water bottle at my desk at work that I drink all day. I eat lots of fish and chicken. For snacks I'll eat some hummus or edamame or if I'm really craving chips I'll eat pretzels instead. I don't really like sweets so that hadn't been a problem. I think that I've hit a little bit of a plateau but I know if I keep doing what I'm done I'll start losing again.
Honestly, those people aren't thinking much about you at all. They're really not. Those are just your insecurities rearing their ugly heads.
If I'm exercising I usually don't pay all that much attention to other people to begin with, but if I do see someone that is a little out of shape, I simply think to myself "wow, they're working on getting into shape; that's great!!!"00 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yNo. I actually really respect girls who are there to lose weight. If I could talk openly to them, I'd say "atta girl".
You know whom I judge? Fat girls who eat twice as much as I do.
I feel a bit insecure at the gym too, everyone is buff, and lifting heavy weights, and I'm a scrawny guy who lifts the empty barbell. But I always remember, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.21 Reply
Asker+1 yHahaha well good to know! And you're right, we all have to start somewhere!!
+1 yI work out at home now, but when I was going to gyms:
1) I was too busy to pay attention to what other people were doing
2) If there was someone bigger, the typical thought was "good for them"--hard to think down on someone who's taking action to improve.00 ReplyNo most of us are too busy getting our own workouts in. But yeah you should be really proud of yourself. If people are staring eventually it will be because you look really really good in workout clothes

Asker+1 yHahaha well thank you for the motivation!!
+1 yPersonally I know how you feel, im a bit overweight myself. What I would tell you is just keep doing what your doing because one of these days those same people are going to see a whole new you and their minds will change soon.

Oh Em Gee I feel so happy because they want to do something great! Most of the time they have EVEN MORE motivation then me! I applaud them. :D

Asker+1 yHaha yay!!! I love your enthusiasm!! You're awesome!
I get a little judge (not a real word) when someone is doing an exercise wrong or walking instead or jogging (except senior citizens ). I am an awful person
13 Reply
Asker+1 yWhy walking? Walking is a good workout and maybe that's all they can do right now. Lol. I personally am in love with the eliptical but I get on treadmill and do intervals every once in a while too.
Asker+1 yYea but some people's bodied can't handle that kind of stress. Everyone's got to start somewhere. When I first started I was doing 15 min on the eliptical and now I'm doing 30 min. It's about progressinh
+1 yI commend them. This insecurity is common for overweight people, and not allowing potential judgment to deter them from their goals is admirable. It's not about where you start it's where you finish.

Hahaa, it would totally work too.
Good for them, if its themselves they want to change and make better, then they've come to the right place.

Asker+1 yHaha do you ever go and try to help them correct their form?
- +1 y
Depends, if I can find a way to slip the advice in there in a friendly way. Don't wanna go bowling up to people and telling them they're doing it wrong. lol
Asker+1 yHaha I understand that. I can say from my point of view, as long as someone was nice about it and didn't act like a douche I would love for someone to come and correct my form.
When I see bigger people in the gym I think good for them, except the ones I see everyday and have looked exactly the same for months or years.

Asker+1 yHaha well sometimes I feel like i can't see a difference. I can tell a difference in my endurance and strength but when I look in the mirror I feel like i look the exact same as I did before.
Asker+1 yHaha well that doesn't seem like they are really doing anything for themselves. I mean you're body doesn't even start burning fat til you're at least 15 min into your workout. I almost feel bad for them.
Asker+1 yWell I agree. I think you should always be trying to improve. So if you walk for 20 min, Walk for 25 min next time. Or take the incline up for your 20 min. One should never be stagnant. Lol
I'm proud of you keep up the good work. That is one of the reasons I don't go to the gym because I feel look down on because I'm a big guy

It's your time to work on you. I don't care if they are judging me... I'm there to get healthy and live a better lifestyle. You should try it!
