Weight loss is calorie in vs calorie out. Eating once a day is a terrible way to do it though. For one thing, you're going to be hungry for most of the day unless you stuff yourself... which kind of defeats the whole point. It also isn't a free pass to eat whatever you want... since you have to think of balancing nutrition.
Here's some easy steps that you should take first.
1) No more sodas. It's empty calorie with no nutritional benefit and you save yourself over a hundred calories.
2) No more latte/fraps/smoothie. These are calorie dense. The sugar/milk/cream/fat doesn't help.
3) No junk foods (eg. ice cream, chips, cookies etc...)
4) No more beers/alcoholic bevs.
5) Limit fast foods.
Some harder steps.
1) Be more active. Walk where you can. Hike/bike/etc..
2) Exercise regularly. Could be something as simple as running a mile a day.
Ideally, you want to hit about a 500 calorie deficit which should theoretically allow you to lose a pound of fat a week (it doesn't quite work out this way, but is a good rule of thumb).
Finally, note that any diet where you see immediate weight loss comes from water weight. It isn't true weight loss and you'll gain it back when you go back to eating regularly.

I prefer eating small frequent meals. Getting the nutrition, but losing weight because your metabolism speeds up. Better eat breakfast
I generally eat once a day due to my work schedule and busy life. I eat when/if I think about it. I do not lose an ounce from this choice. Your body is designed to maintain homeostasis (balance) and if it perceives itself as starving it will slow metabolism down to the point you will not lose a thing.
Cutting carbs way down (notice I didn't say NO carb, just low carb) causes me to drop those vanity pounds quickly and safely every time. Low carb wraps instead of bread, low carb pasta... proteins are a total go, all the meat, eggs and even some dairy you can eat; check those carb contents though as carbs hide in silly places like some fruits. No soda, only water and unsweetened drinks.
Again, eating once a day to lose weight will be absolutely ineffective. Try a version if a healthy diet style. 4 months is plenty of time to drop quite a bit of weight in a wise way. :)
monks eat less and they are healthy and happy. are you happy with one meal a day? if so. keep it.

Don't do it, like @meatballs21 said you need to feed your body properly. These fad diets are so wrong, and believe it or not, not all weight loss is a good thing. There are two types of weight to lose... You can lose a lot of lean mass (mass like muscle and blood volume and bone density by not feeding yourself properly and this is NOT what you want to happen.) You can lose excess fat by eating what your lean mass needs to survive and BURN the excess off by exercising properly. Burn it off, don't starve it off. Big difference. A lot of specific information goes into getting this right. Don't wing it. Go see a local fitness trainer and nutritionist if you want to lose weight safely. You can do 8 pounds per month safely. -I'm a personal trainer of 4 years, been studying this stuff for 6. Good luck.
How much weight would you lose? Impossible to tell, we don't know how much you weigh, how old you are or how tall you are.
This won't work. Your body needs energy to run and nutrients to maintain itself. If you want to lose weight, a calorie controlled diet and exercise will allow you to lose weight safely and healthily. Starving yourself just means you'll be miserable and likely to give up.Once a day? I don't think it's a good idea. I was fat once, years ago, I lost weight by exercising and eating not more than 3 times every day. I didn't eat very much, I just ate the necessary. It worked for me and I recommend everyone to do it.
You could eat one pizza a day and gain weight, or you could eat 6 healthy meals and still lose weight.
Its a bad idea. If I have a super busy week I sometimes end up eating once a day. Long-term result is unhealthy weight loss. After finals 2nd year of college I weighed 147lbs. Felt awful due to low iron.
I've have been doing it for 15+ years and I maintain my weight
