Do you think I should go see my doctor?
Have you had any experience with this before and what do you recommend I do?
Unless it's excruciating pain, like you feel like you can't even walk with out crying, or the pain is in your joints, you'll be fine.
I know what you mean by your thighs hurting after a work out for weeks after. But the best thing you can do is light exercise. I know it hurts and it feels better to not work them, but it's the best and fastest way to get rid of the soreness.
If you're brand new to endurance running and weight training, especially weight training, you will be sore for a few weeks.
I used to do endurance running, but now only lift weights (ankle problems) and the first few weeks are always the worst if I had any time between seasons that I didn't work out. It sucks, but will get better
Do make sure you're stretching properly before AND after your work out to help with it
The trainer says that doesn't help and is not necessary?
Take an ice bath first, if you are in serious pain go see a doctor.
You can end up with a strained muscle or a torn muscle if you over exercise early on as in your body is not used to working out. Also ice is best it will help more than heat, advil helps, massage is wonderful, take in enough protein to build muscle, voltaren works good too. Hope this helps ya
