I work in this field so I can answer this properly. The key is to eat frequently. If you go more than 3/4 hours without food you are makings the next meal much more likely to store fat. You can eat more frequently, and thereby eat more food overall, and still lose weight. Eating food boosts your metabolism more than anything else you can do. Make sure each meal and snack has at least a little protein as well.
Exercise helps in general. Also don't avoid weight training just because your a girl. It's won't make you big, it will make you toned. Finally throw out your scale as weight means nothing.

Try to be in a low carb diet (100g per day), focus on fiber/protein intake, and be in calorie deficit. Do some resistant/weight training and you're set!
change your diet. skip dinner BUT take a good heavy meal in the evening. I usually drink green tea everyday to keep my body warm and increase my metabolism. It helps :)
