If you're not sore from a workout the previous day do you still need to rest?

I did a lot yesterday and thought I'd be sore- goblet squats, kettlebell deadlifts, a bunch of ankle weight exercises, etc etc, but I'm not.

Firstly, if you're not sore, does that mean you're not making progress?
Secondly if you're not sore do you still need to take a day to rest?
If you're not sore from a workout the previous day do you still need to rest?
