For a rib to be broken you need an impact of some type.
For example, one of the women broke two of my ribs while we were sparring about a year ago. She had to punch me fairly hard to do it.
Ribs do not break as a result of exercise.
I would like to suggest something for the inflammation. Aspirin is relatively useless and will eat a hole in your stomach. Your choice of words and spelling tell me that you are in the USA. Look up a product called Omega-XL. It is a patented extract of the oil of the New Zealand green-lipped mussel.
There is a lot of published science on its efficacy as a natural anti-inflammatory. Look on PubMed. com and put the word Lyprinol into the search function. Elsewhere in the world. Omega-XL is called Lyprinol.
One capsule per day, every day, for the rest of your life, will help to keep unwanted inflammation under control. If you experience menstrual cramping, it might help to reduce that.

unless something hit your side it is unlikely that your rib is fractured. however it is certainly possible to have a strained or torn muscle. you should go see a doctor.
the ribs are lined with muscles on and in-between. super easy to slightly tear or overstretch one. they don't heal super fast but i think that's the problem. unless you dropped something on your ribs they wouldn't fracture. very very flexible bone and tissue. i would take ibuprofen up to (4) if you feel you must, it's not a drug that can really be overused. reduces inflammation. but if you find out it is a fracture (probably not) then stop because it can reduce bone healing. treat like a sprain
RICE:
-rest
-ice
-compression
-elevate (obviously can't elevate ribs lol)
I'm a two year honors science and boomed student, my parents are doctors so yep, I'm a nerd who knows stuff lol
Did you ever do warm-ups? I think that's what they're for, and I've went through that pain before, though it only lasted three days straight. I didn't warm up, and I guess that was why?
