How to lose weight successfully?

Hi.. i have been dealing with weight issues throughout my life... but without proper guidance i always bounce off track.. currently im 6 months into my gym membership and have been going to the gym for like 2-3 times a week to join on dance cardio classes as well as body combat/attack classes and stayed in the gym for around 1-2 hours. Food intake wise, im cutting down on sweets, snacks, chocolate, fried stuffs and only eat a small portion of rice and take in more soupy, porridge, chicken kind of stuffs. Why is it that im not any losing weight? And also, is it correct to not eat anything after 7pm?

*but i did notice parts of my body are flabbier than before..
