Is there a healthy way to lose 30 pounds quickly?

I was injured in a car accident and put on 30 pounds during the recovery period. I used to go to the gym three times a week and now am not allowed exercise. The extra weight is uncomfortable because I don't get around as easily. I've modified my diet (low carbs, lots of veggies, etc.) but I'm not sure how to replace the three days a week at the gym. Does anyone have advice?
