+1 ySome of the things that help me sleep are having white noise. This might sound weird, but having a fan on usually helps me sleep. It drowns out noises from other people in your house. I find my mind gets busy at night too, so watching a show helps me mostly.
Some people suggest reading a book, but I have to have a light on for that, and the light wakes me up. When I'm watching tv I turn my backlight on my laptop down same with my cell. That way I get sleepy.
Making sure you have good curtains to block out any streetlights helps as well.
Temperature is also important. If you are too hot or too cold, you will have trouble sleeping. I prefer to keep my room cool to sleep in. So I usually have a window open. If you need it warmer, get another blanket and wear socks to bed to keep your feet warm.10 Reply

+1 yHmm, I dunno, but it does usually take me an hour to fall asleep, cuz of depression and stuff, but, the only thing I can think of is Sleeping meds, but the problem with that is that could lead to depending on them to sleep, but maybe it's cuz it's too quiet in your room , I know that I need the radio on, and to have my Stuffed Bunnny in the bed to, otherwise it takes me even longer to sleep, or if it's too quiet I end up thinking about all the things I messed up on, and end up either crying or another thing, but I'm afraid to share it, cuz reasons, I would if I could be private or Anonymous

+1 yStudying something really boring? I remember reading my course literature to my ex when she couldn't sleep. Knocked her right out.
Afterwards of course you're caught staring at your literature and wondering what the heck you're actually studying.11 Reply

Don't eat in the last hour before going to bed, eating puts your digestion to work and that makes you more alert :-(
And certainly to not drink coffee after late afternoon and not more than 5 cups a day in total.
Rumour has it that hot milk can help... but that's not something I've ever tried :D10 ReplyYou need to find a bedtime routine and stick to it.
I have dinner before 7, floss and brush my teeth after and I take an all-natural melatonin pill around 8.
I'm usually asleep by 10:30 at the very latest.114 Reply- +1 y

Have a hot bath or shower before bed.
Take a sleeping pill.
Have a glass of milk.
No phone or computer or anything with a lit screen an hour before bed.
Flick yourself off (it works for some people)
Play some white noise or soft chillout music, or ASMR stuff.21 Reply- +1 y

+1 yTurn off/don't use electronics at least an hour before you plan on going to sleep. The light from them messes up the "sleep" chemicals in your brain, tricking it to think that it's still light outside (when you're not supposed to be sleeping).

+1 yIt's because you're on the phone all the time and exposed to too much blue light and your melatonin production is inhibited.
