The teeth movie really freaked me out, but why?

OK so I'm not really a squeamish person, I watched all the Saw movies, Texas Chainsaw massacre, etc. without so much as a second thought. But after I watched a movie called teeth ( link ) I felt really creeped out, obviously most guys might cringe a bit but I mean I really have been obsessed with it. It also affected me to see that the girls I was with thought it was hilarious...really? I don't know sexual mutilation really bothers me, I really hate seeing rape scenes in movies 2. Girls, is the idea of a guy being sexually mutilated really funny? and why am I freaked out particularly by this kinda stuff? When all other blood and gore has no effect on me at all.

OK, my opinion on his is...

firstly every film you watch usually has an allagory, a deeper meaning to it, from this film I'm guessing it's something to do with our generation sleeping around, contracting STI'S .. So maybe it affects you cause you have a fear of that? or a concern. But this allagory is very relivant to our generation. Or it could just be that having your privates munched of is a scary thought.. I don't blame you.

Theres is a media based theory called " desensitization theory " which suggests that the more violence, horror, sex extra, we are exposed to the more desesitized we becme to it. So in your case the reason you arn't so affected by horror and gore anymore is cause you have been exposed to so much of it it doesn't have as much of an impact on you as it once mite have. - but a film like " Teeth" is - I'm guessing - different to anything your used to, and a very disturbibg subject matter, so going on this theory it is going to shock you more and have an impact unlike the horror films you are used to.

Rape scenes make most people uncomfortable, it's disturbing and traumatic, Unless you have a particular fetish for it, then I don't think many people would watch it and enjoy it.

And if it really happened, I wouldn't find it funny, but cause it is so un-real and over the top it makes it funny. It's a sureal thought. Guess we're not used to seeing a guy have his bits chopped off. personally I think the film looks grose. I think I'd laugh out of shock.

I guss my bigest hang up was the girls finding it funny,but as you said I guess they just found it so over the top that they couldn't possibly take it seriously, especially considering they actually posses the body part that had teeth, they probably found it more outrageous than some1 who doesn't have a vagina, but I guess for guys I takes on a more universal themse of castration/loss of manhood

Where as the girls viewed it as just a an over-top horror movie, so I guess I just reacted wrongly by assuming that girls think genital mutilation in general is funny. They probably just saw a funny movie and didn't read into as deep as I would

I read the link and the first sentence freaked me out. I don't think that a girl beating sexually mutilated is funny. It's actually kinda hard to watch. I think that the girl found it funny because what are the chances that ur vajaja (vagina) is going to bite a guy's penis off. I think the movie freaked you out because the thought of a ur penis being bitten off by a girl's vagina is a scary thought.

Haha yea it is!....butalso...in a more real life situation...alot of women were talikng bout lorena bobbi being a hero...really? I mean that's kind sick her husband was abusie but still....Idk if he deserved that, and plus a lot of women have done it because of cheating....it seem like a lot of women think that mutilaton is okay if a guy tis them off...it just kinda bothers me

Okay, rape scenes make me feel bad (especially ones that are done really well) and of course disgusted... but that movie... really? I laughed, I didn't think it was that great, but I knew at least one girl that was touting that "all guys should see it and think about it" which made me laugh twice as hard... honestly, just seen it as a joke, I couldn' take it serious in the least, but hey maybe that's just me.

But to answer your question, some girls I knew liked it, because it was like an empowering thing to them, and thought parts were funny, because to them it was like a role reversal thing (the woman being dangerous instead of the guys).

Yea, I guess I understand that but it still bothers me because if anyone thought it was funny to see a girl mutilated (which actually goes on around the world with the practice of FGM) t would be really sick to laugh at that. Plus it makes me sad that girls view guys in such a negative light.

I would see it as a bad thing, but I don't, because it gives me the OPPORTUNITY to change women's minds, and because it's not that ALL of them hate men or anything, just in society it's a predominately male world, they usually even make less money than men in the same positions... it happens.

All guys are pretty much uncomfortable with anything to do with mutilating their manhood. Seems pretty understandable to me. The only case of it that I did think was ridiculous was a guy I knew who transferred his own fears about this onto his dog and did not want to get his dog fixed because of it. Huh?

Well I think I might be taking it to far in some ways too...I look at the girls I watched it with differently and view them as these uncaring monsters (which I totally know theyre not).
