A month or so ago, Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet, a book sometimes called the vegan bible, came to speak to a vegan club I was in. Even though I didn't agree with everything he said, he did say something that struck me, paraphrasing "You have beginner vegans, angry vegans, and mature vegans." Beginners are people who recently started the diet, angry vegans are the people who push away others with their fervor and can't understand how people could say no to a diet that, in their opinion, saves other beings from suffering and helps the planet. Mature vegans have gotten past those feelings of confusion and anger. And they live their lives and spread the word a different way. He went on to say "A lot of people get stuck in the angry vegan stage." And I think that's true.
I empathize with angry vegans to an extent. It's not that they started out as bad people or annoying people. As someone who eats a vegetarian diet, in the beginning for the animals, it does hurt when people just don't care about the suffering of other beings, especially when you see them as more than their flesh. And I can understand how all that passion about animals and the fact that being vegan IS the single best diet plan for our longterm survival on this planet (given the current way we abuse it), I can see how all that can make someone confused and angry. However, I think adults should be adults and be able to get past those feelings and spread the word in a different way.
It really is. I try to see things from pros and cons and be pretty level headed about it, but in class, the most vocal people are SOOOO pro GMO. I think explaining things in a respectful tone is best (and alienates less people), no matter the side of the argument.

vegans annoy me most of them need a burger they look so sick. go be pale somewhere else not around me
I know many vegans and never have they tried to change my eating habits. Generalizing is bad. Fyi
apologies again. I should not have said that. I was mad when I read her post. It was unfair and I believe people should live how they want to.
vegan food taste good
wrong response.
not all of them are like that. I haven't met a vegan person who ever tried to get into an argument with me yet
I really don't feel that they try to push it onto everyone, I personally feel that they feel the need to so desperately get others approvals.
Well, you can't change anything by just changing yourself. That's only the first step.
For the same reason every other minority does it. Attention. You don't wanna eat meat, fine. I don't want to listen to it. I just want to eat my steak
They think that the animals should be treated like humans and should not suffer.
why do good guys have to force no rape agenda on rapists?
Obviously not ALL vegans are like pushing agendas.
no ma'm. that is not what i meant at all. apologies.

i understand what you are saying, but what is happening with GMO's is not good for vegan's either. I think we need to overhaul both systems.
GMO is such a hot topic in my major.
it's kinda crazy.

yes, i suppose you're right. they have already been banned in several countries. perhaps the u. s. should take a hint.
Take it in one ear and out the fucking other
Stop being a crybaby
Every vegan I've known is a complete cultist.
they remind me of infomercials.
I've honestly not known any who do this
