It doesn't matter what race you are, what religion you are, whether you are black, brown or white, at a certain moment in your life the depression is going to hit you.
There would be something in your life that would hurt you the most, you would b begin to question everything around you, the more you think about it, the more you would find yourself sinking in the pit.
Now here's when the most stories turn unique, normally your friends, relatives, your spouse etc would try to lift your spirits up until you are back on your feet (this is the ideal situation of course), now there are people who don't have a supportive group of friends, abusive parents or are in abusive relationships that makes the progress more slower or if you continue to stay around those people, it sticks with you till infinity.
Any time a depression hits you, know that it's only temporary, it's not always going to be like that, there is a light at the end of every tunnel, sounds cliche? Yes it does, but it has been universal don't get impatient with it, don't say I've been in this depression for this long, have spend my whole life in it and you tell me this B. S what I already know.
The moral of the message is, not to give up, as long as you breath get back up on your feet, get back up and face the problems you are facing, keep fighting it and you would eventually get good it, staying down has not helped a single human being, it's when you get fed up of it and try to face it, is when you start making a difference, not for yourself but for others around as well, people see the change that transforms you and notice it.
Believe in yourself and start making changes today and I promise you that one day you would look back and see how much of a difference you have made in your life instead of just staying down and continuing the rinse and repeat routine.
The definition of insanity is, doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. Chin Up and don't let the depression beat you, but a good fight with it. Rise Above All.

Hard to say. Personally I, objectively speaking, think I could have easily had (and still can) a depression yet I don't somehow.
I think that everyone struggles with depression at some point in their lives. It's just that for some, it is short-term and able to be overcome sooner while others deal with a chronic form of it and need extra help to get through it. Since depression is considered to be a mental illness and mental illness comes with a stigma that many people do not like to be associated with, they hide it out of fear of what other people and society will say or think about them.
No, I wouldn't say *most* people struggle with depression. Everyone experiences sadness at some point in their lives but there's a big difference between normal emotions of sadness and actual depression. I think a lot of people sometimes confuse the two (I'm not saying you are personally confusing it, I'm just speaking in general. But if you really feel like you are struggling with depression, you should reach out to someone for help).
