You know, the people I've seen with the most success have done one of those low-carb diets. There are a ton of them out there, but it's pretty clear to me that it works really well. The thing is, bread sure does taste good...
I have a pair of friends who do it by claiming that they have a gluten allergy. Basically, it gives them an excuse to all carbs and I have to say, these two women look fantastic.
With regards to food addiction... I don't know, do you do embarrassing things like you're undecided about which item to get at two different fast food places so you end up going to both of them while hiding the bag so that the second fast food place doesn't see it? There are questions online that you can go over to see how many of them you say "yes" to so if you're really concerned, maybe you should check it out.

High fat, moderate protein, ultra-low carb diet, combined with exercise.
First time I did keto, I was shedding about a pound a day.
I just need to get better about not having months at a time where I give no fucks about anything, and eat whatever, drink whiskey like mad, and fuck off my workout. Or not going to positions at work where I'll be working 18 hours a day, stuck in a truck, and eating whatever I can get from the gas station or local greasy spoon diner.
Don't train alone. Find a fitness/sport companion (s) so you can stimulate each other. In team its more difficult to say you quit for that day and you can comment each others improvements
