The "strongest man in history" was Louis Cyr.

So, do you think they are naturally strong (genetics, hardwork and diet) or do they take enhancements?

I think they must help it along with enhancements. You have to start with good genes but to stay competitive in anything you do, most athletes use an occasional boost. With ordinary people, it's protein diets and supplements but with these guys who are famous I think they must have encorporated steroids at one time or another. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
It's way better for most people, especially men, to be healthy and strong for 30 years and then die of liver failure, as opposed to being strong for maybe 15-20 years and being old and sick and feeble for 40 after that, and dying of Alzheimer's.
I've worked in a nursing home taking care of "healthy people" who didn't abuse their bodies with steroids and drugs, now they're all lonely and demented having their ass wiped by total strangers.
I have no intention of living past 60. I will take up as many dangerous hobbies as it takes to make sure I kill myself off before I outlive my strength and my brains and become nothing but a fleshy receptacle for agony and humiliation, A. K. A. an old person.
I'd fucking WAY rather die of a heart attack from steroid abuse than live an extra 20-30 years in misery.
Both. Genetically strong, exercise, and enhancements
i think some don't take stuff
thank you
You're welcome.
A few are natural, most take some supplements but nothing illegal, a few are taking fucking horse steroids.
Some people are genetic freaks and they're stronger without steroids than anybody else is with them, but then again, some of those genetic freaks also take steroids, so that's where things get crazy.
The top strongman of the world all take anabolic steroids but genetics play a HUGE role in this aswell, not anyone can be a top level bodybuilder, powerlifter, Olympic lifter, strongman, etc. Powerlifters hold the world record squat n bench and I think Eddie ( a strongman) still holds the world record deadlift?

Yes and no.
Yes there are strongman competing naturally, probably even at the top levels. Have guys won WSM naturally, quite likely. These guys all have one in a million genetics.
But to be the best of the best, I highly doubt they're natural. Bjornsson went from a 250lb basketball player to a 390lb strongman in 2 years. Pudzianowski, yeah right.
And you're unknown is Mike Burke.
If you ever meet them in person you can tell they are naturally gifted. They are just also on gear oftentimes. Thicker wrists, bigger hands, wider hips, thick calves and large feet tend to be natural strength advantages that's you're born with from the start. There's not gonna be a guy that doesn't have good genetics for strongman that's going to just take roids and win it all.
No. Steroids do not just accelerate your recovery and you DON'T have to work to benefit from them. It's been proven over and over you do not have to work hard for steroids to work. That's a lie fed by people who do steroids, who want to protect their fragile egos.
Several studies show, that you make just as much strength gains on steroids doing nothing, then off steroids working your ass off. As well, you make twice as much gains in lean mass on steroids doing nothing then off it working out continuously.

I should have been more clear. I was referring to getting the most out of it when saying benefit from drugs and When I say "work" I mean train at your sport specifically. Not doing additional strength and conditioning. Like if you just take roids and play your sport you will do significantly better.
If you sit on the couch and inject roids for 4 months and come to play against someone equally talented who had a natural workout, diet and training regimen. Natural wins over him.
That said. I read the study and figure 1 in the results showed the exercise+placebo had more strength gains in the bench and squat than test+noexercise group. The test+noX group did put on more size, but their strength did not match. Which reinforces my point which I wasn't very clear on before. I didn't mean just taking test would give no benefit. Just if you planned to do well as far as performance you would still have to put in the work.
Figure 1 shows no statistical difference between no exercise + testosterone and exercise + placebo. A small, sliver more in gains on the chart is not a true indicator of a difference.
Exercise + placebo had a 21 % increase in squat gains and 11% increase in bench. Testosterone + no exercise had a 19% increase in squat and 10% increase in bench.
So with only a 2% and 1% difference respectively, I don't believe it reinforces your point. Steroids is easy and only when competing against other steroid users is there any significant amount of work required to get ahead.
I appreciate, however, that you actually looked at the study and considered the possibility. And yes, you're right that people get the most out of steroids when they couple it with goal specific training.
@NotJustAnotherGuy
Thanks. I don't like talking out of my ass. Prefer reading studies to make sure it even says what is claimed lol.
As for the study I was saying it reinforces my point that hardwork is more important than the drugs. Because over a 10 week period the group who only trained was still stronger at the end of the day, than the group who sat on their ass with some drug use. All the roids did was help maintain their strength while putting on a bit more mass due to essentially being on a 10 week recovery phase.
If the work wasn't more important or effective than the drugs, then the no exercise group would have performed better than the natural group who actually put in the work.
its both, you need good genes to be strong and train enough to get better, most of them use or have used steroids at one point in their career
no idea, but i don't think they take steroids, it's all about training
if it's not steroids people are usually eating protein powder or drinking protein shakes
There are probably some steroids in the mix!
I don't know some look more natural than others
I think they take some enhancements in the mix.
Training, as steroids don't improve strength.
dude they all take steroids
No they take steroids i saw it in a documentary.
They certainly do.
weightlifters are stronger than bodybuilders
You can't just say this. Weightlifters compete in the snatch clean & jerk, etc. You can't generally say they're stronger than bodybuilders because there are bodybuilders with insane lifts. But you can say that, usually if you made them both do a clean and jerk the Weightlifter will succeed more often due to their flexibility and them training for that lift specifically.
Enhancements
they work for it
