Where are you from and what's your view of drinking and smoking?

I'm from Australia, and hate people who drink and smoke. I don't do it mainly because I've seen the consequences that they can have amongst my family. Most kids my age (16) think it's cool to drink and smoke. What do you think?

i drink and smoke but not because its "kool" and I'm actually of age to do so but yes if you aren't responsible about it you can ruin your life. having a drink or 2 now and again is fine...kinda like eating fast food. if you eat crap all the time your gonna screw yourself up but hitting up a fast food place from time to time isn't gonna ruin your life. I've found that with drinking a lot of people struggle with it because they use it to get away from their problems. they want to feel the bazz and usually take it too far, but there is such a thing as drinking responsibly which means you don't drink and drive you don't drink till you puke you just enjoy your drinks slowly and pay attention to how you feel and always remember if you are starting to have a bazz its time to slow down because if you keep the same pace or start drinking more to increase the buzz you're going to regret it. I'm in the US.

I'm in Australia too, and 17, and I think the drinking culture here is kind of ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a drink or two, but most of my friends drink to get drunk every weekend and I just find it kind of silly. I can see why they do it, because it makes everything more fun and exciting, but I wouldn't go out and do it every weekend. I am totally against smoking though, I think its gross!

Hate's a strong word... I don't *hate* people who drink and smoke.

On smoking, I absolutely hate it and want it wiped off the face of the earth. There is nothing good about it and tons of negatives, ranging from health, money, cancer, yellow ceilings, bad breath, etc.

It depends on the type of drinking. There's "YEAH, LET'S GET WASTED AND DRINK A DOZEN BEER CANS AND PARTY. WOOT AMERICA." drinking and "Let's have a glass of wine and make a toast to all of my European chaps." and drinking.

I hate the first type and not the second.

Well smoking is not cool, and has been proven countless times that it is extremely bad for your health. Drinking is fine in moderation, just like everything else in life. But you shouldn't be doing either at that young.

Well it's unhealthy, unless done in moderation, but there's nothing "wrong" with doing those things.
