I think it's more of a life change than you think, or at least it was for me.
If you're living with family it can be hard as they may not eat healthy. Even worse, a lot of people feel bad about eating bad foods, so when they see somebody healthy they are inclined to make a slightly backhanded comment about your diet. You can always try to influence them to eat healthy, but don't push it. If you need to, just ignore them. It's parallel to what they tell to recovering drug addicts; if you get back in with the same crowd you'll get back into old habits.
When you go shopping, do so on a full stomach and try to minimize buying junk food. Notice I didn't say don't buy junk food. We all need a treat every now and then, and if a cupcake every now and then prevents you from eating an entire cheesecake and giving up, have your damn cupcake.
My motivation for exercise is usually races. Just sign up for a 5K a few months ahead of time. Even when I'm busy I still get out to run so I can be in shape for race day. Also, having a picture of a sexy, in-shape girl as a desktop background minimizes my internet time and gets me out a little more. Kinda sad but true.
Unfortunately, losing weight in a healthy manner = slow. Don't think of being on a diet, as when you stop you'll just gain it back. Think of slowly changing your diet, as in how you plan to eat forever. This way, cheating a little is OK.
As a side note, somebody suggested fruit. I'm not going to deny that it has vitamins, and before a workout I almost always grab fruit for a little more energetic feeling. BUT, it has tons of sugar. Vitamins aside you're body doesn't know much of a difference between that and a bag of skittles. If you're trying to lose weight, calories from sugar are in general not good. I'd suggest slow-digesting foods like cottage cheese (or anything with casein). It takes more work for your body to break down, which means you feel fuller longer and it burns a small amount more calories just to break it down. Basically the opposite of sugars/carbs. You still need SOME sugars and carbs, but if you want to lose weight be sure not to go eating nothing but fruit all day. You can always take vitamin pills.
Good luck!

Hey dude I had the same sort of situation where it was hard to get motivated to change. Here's some things I've found helpful. Find a couple relatively healthy things that you really like and won't mind eating often. For me that was stuff like cereal, bagels, fruit, pasta. Then start substituting these things for meals. Also I skip lunch a lot, or have something really small. So in a day I'll have a bagel for breakfast, a piece of fruit for lunch, and then something a bit more substantial for dinner. I saw you're on a budget and those things I mentioned last pretty long, and aren't too expensive. Also like others said drink more water, not only will it help you feel full but it helps flush out your body and all that other good stuff, so just throughout the day always have water with you. As for exercising first is to try and get a friend who is willing to exercise with you. That way you can sort of support each other, and you'll feel more committed if your friend is asking you to go out with him. Then obviously find some sort of exercise you like. I started playing basketball more, it's really good exercise lots of running, jumping, and it's fun. But whatever it is just make it semi enjoyable. Also, get rid off all the junk food in your house, especially whatever favorite thing it is you like. For me it's pizza and ice cream. If it's in the house or I order a pizza I am going to overeat it because I love them so much, and I know this so it's better to just keep them out of the house. But really its all just about getting yourself to say, today is the day to change, and going to do it. The first week or two will probably suck, but after your body adjusts to the changes in diet and exercise you'll feel much better.
make it a habit. just make it a part of the day before or after work. don't think about it and don't back out when your head says "ugh not today" if you start working out the first ten minutes might be tough but if you can get yourself past those ten minuts you won't even be thinking about it anymore because you body will be warmed up. don't forget to stretch in the morning and drnk plenty of water to clear your mind

The easiest and most effective way to lose weight is not exercise. Exercise is important to being healthy, but if you're considering it from a strictly 'lose weight perspective', you need to reduce your daily intake of calories. Do not be afraid to eat three meals a day, but make an effort to reduce your portions. Instead of a bowl of cereal, eat a cup instead. Instead of three pancakes and eggs, reduce your portions to a single pancake and single egg. I find it's a lot easier to reduce meals if you drink an entire glass of water before eating. Do not allow yourself to snack- stop buying junk food, and purchase apples instead. Whenever you crave a snack because the smaller portions of food are getting to you, eat an apple instead. You'll probably get sick of apples after a while, but hopefully it's after you've grown accustomed to your lower caloric diet. Exercise tends to not work well with losing weight, because it causes you to be even hungrier. However, I encourage you to work it into your daily routine because a fit , slightly overweight person is generally healthier than a sedentary skinny one.
Establish a goal weight and a goal date. You can not trick yourself into losing weight, you have to be fully commited because as said before it is a lifestyle change. I decided I wanted to lose weight in june, so starting July I started counting calories, excersizing as much as possible and have lost about 30 pounds. Find foods low in calories that you enjoy a lot and take steps into putting them in your diet and preplanning your meals in advanced, if you eat by reaction you'll go right for the unhealthy stuff. losing weight is probably 60 percent diet and 40 percent excersize. Lots of cardio and high intensity interval training.
Tricks I have done with my eating are..Before meals drink two big glasses of water so your stomach thinks it has consumed more than it actually has. Instead of eating a couple bigger meals eat 5 or 6 smaller meals. Have a cheat day every couple of weeks for one meal where you can eat something fattening and get it out of your system. Find others around you that want to lose some weight and get motivation from each other.
Once you get into the groove of things it gets somewhat easier its just getting the ball rolling that is hard. Good luck to you and hope to hear of your success in the futureHonestly, Nope. There aren't any tricks or quick fixes to it, its all about hard work and pushing yourself. Everyone wants an easy or quick way to get something difficult accomplished. We all wish there was some way that didn't require effort and discipline. Its all about hard work. The reason only few people make their goals in life is because only a few people have the discipline to push themself through hard work. Think about it
I've helped a couple of my friends lose as much as 80 pounds. Its all about putting yourself on a schedule.. Diets are extremely hard to follow if you don't have strict instructions that you can kinda put yourself out of the picture with. You have to feel like it isn't your CHOICE what you get to eat. It is the instructions that tell you what to do, but then it gets easier once you get used to eating that way.
Try going for a walk everyday .
And when watching TV, when it comes to a commercial do an exercise like
-Jumping Jacks
-Sit ups
-push ups
-Squats
- etc...
Just keep Pushing yourself .Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.
Drink a lot of water. Fills your stomach.
Running works the best and fastest.
