Getting my wisdom teeth out at almost 22 years of age (ill be 22 on staurday)?

why am I asking this. well because the last time I had teeth extracted (pulled, removed) I was 5. I had to go 3 times to have 5 teeth removed each time. after the second time, my dad said id never have to go back. yeah, right!

i was 5 and I was able to have the gas even though I was terrified of it because I didn't know what it was. am I allowed to have gas again or not or do I just have to use the stuff that numbs it. id rather be asleep for it but I dk if I'm too old for it or w/e

also, since its been a while, what's it like to have your wisdom teeth out. I hear it all the time, its a common procedure, I never had my tonsils out so this is really as close to a common procedure as I'm gonna ever be, and I'm scared to death (even though I'm almost 22)

i need root canals too and honestly as much as they say about r.c's. having my wisdom teeth removed is freaking me out. as mentioned above ^

You're not too old for general anesthetic. I was a few years older than you are when I had mine out and they didn't hesitate to give me a general. However, a lot of that will depend on how many wisdoms they're taking out. If it's one or two, you'll probably get a local. If, like in my case, they'll be taking the whole set out, then they'll probably give you a general.

On the upside, the drugs are great! Some of my friends have gotten Tylenol 3's when they've had their wisdoms out, but my surgeon gave me oxycodone. Of course, I'm a big guy, so T3's don't affect me nearly as hard as they do my tinier counterparts.

I would tell you not to worry, but I know you will anyway - we all did. Just have faith; things'll go smooth as glass, you'll be done before you know it, and you'll be back in action soon enough!

They'll still put you to sleep. I had mine out a few years ago, but I was bakin a bun in the oven if ya know what I mean, and they couldn't. They couldn't even shoot me up with the numbing stuff cause of complications. I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to dentists, and honestly.. the horror stories I'd heard about gettting wisdom teeth removed had me terrified.. and even more so that I couldn't have any pain meds during or after. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. Yanking the suckers out hurt like a biatch, I'll tell you that... but you'll have meds, so you won't feel as much. The pain afterward wasn't too bad either.

i got mine taken out a few months ago (age 21). and it doesn't hurt at all. not before, during, or after. you have nothing to be scared of me. and this is coming from me, the person who winces when I get paper cuts
