Studies have shown evidence that having house plants help improve air quality, reduce stress, anxiety, and help you recover from illnesses more quickly.
Here are some of my favorites.
Yes, although some of the benefits are from the soil as much ore more than the plant itself. It's pretty legit that they clean the air. Even NASA has done studies on it for use in space.
I've had house plants for over 50 years. Some of the plants I currently have are over 40 years old. They are just as healthy as they were 40 years ago.
I currently have about 20 plants. A few years ago I was had closer to 50. Within about a year's time I inherited a bunch of plants from two different people who moved. A lot of them died because I didn't have any place to put that many where they could get light, and it was too many all at once to learn how much light and water they liked.
By the way, a good book on house plants is by someone named Barbara Pleasant. I remember the author because "plants are pleasant".
Isn't this just compensating for (by own choices) ''bad'' living environment?
Sure: the positive effects that you mention are there.
But in the first place: WHO asked 'you' to live in a concrete desert?
I count a balcony or a porch already as being 'outside' - that's where plants can be around me (us) closely, and ''do their job'' without suffering from insufficient light or from my young dogs. The dogs know this, unfortunately, and just make our plants suffer from them... outside :D
My ''philosophy'' is: mankind originates from nature; that's why living in artificial cluttered habitats like large cities subconsciously makes us feel being at the wrong place; that's how much of social frictions and 'city-problems' are generated.
To flip the coin. I’ve also heard negatives about fertilizer and molds in the potting soil itself being inside the home. A number of them can be toxic if ingested by pets too.
Hence why you grow organic
@TheBigGuy9 That’s one way, yes. Most won’t though.
@TheBigGuy9 a toxic plant that is grown organically is still toxic though
@Subarugirl right
Would love some..
Now to get the cat, dogs and kids to leave them alone just so I can get to the final boss of my wife who kills every single plant we ever had lol
Snake plants are awesome and low maintenance
The main issue I see with those is over watering
Lol 😂 it happens my sister is too haha

I have a 2,5 m high Candelabra Tree, two Orchids in bath rooms and huge Strelitzia reginae (Paradise bird flower). I need something green for the winter in my house, otherwise I prefer garden plants.
When I lived in Thailand, we had a big balcony. Plants brought life, decoration and nice smell to the balcony.
And speaking of plants, today I was watching poison Ivy from Gotham Tv series. She was using her plants to heel catwoman and defend pinquin. She did claim plants being better friends than men who can become rude jerks sometimes.
I have eight different plants around my house & I do know the benefits as well.
What?
Swoosh, right over your head…
which is why I asked... what?
yes but didn't know some of those reasons. We want more plants. I tried growing lettuce and cilantro inside, not so great results so far. where we live, there are a lot of trees... the air is so much better to breathe.
Yes, I've known for a long time that indoor plants help clean the air, by removing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. Problem I have is that I have a black thumb... all of my plants die.
yes... my mother, and also my lady neighbors insist on that all the time
so the patio and front yard belongs to them... lol
Yupp... I once read that you are suppose to have a plant per room in your house. Do be carefully with pets, some house plants are toxic to them. They will puke... everywhere.
Yeah most houseplants are toxic to pets.
I have them only for the fire season Cali gets. Helps my kids breath better
Yup I was aware.
honestly I’d be surprised if anyone didn’t know you learn about it in school to a degree.
I just had 2 orchid plants bloom on my bow window. One is red , the other pink.
I like having plants.
They don't always improve air quality, that is dependent on many factors lol.
My mom usually has flowers on the kitchen table but I don't know if I will own any houseplants in my own future place myself.
I have a pretty big outdoor garden and veggies garden. unfortunately my house isn't really setup for indoor plants. I'd live to have some nice tropicals
If plants help reduce stress & anxiety I best get a jungle growing at my house.
🤣🤣🤣
It is true. Caring for plants helps you relax.
Yea, I used to have a snake plant but the roots always die.
not always
While i do like houseplants i don't like the bugs they bring with them 😕
I do, but they rarely survived more than a couple months at my place so I gave up on them lol
Yes I have few house plants I think they brightens the room
and house
Yeah but I'm pretty sure house plans also cause people to die faster. I saw a study
