Are men superior in all physical attributes?

On average Strength I get. Men are built more muscular, especially upper body wise.

What about speed though? Women have pretty strong legs plus we are lighter and more flexible on average so shouldn’t we have the advantage?

Flexibility wise. Yeah I think we have the one up here on average. We have more long muscle fibres not short ones.

Resilience. Men because they’re heavier and more beefy on average.

So in all power wise men obviously are superior but speed and dexterity I feel women have the advantage due to being lighter and more flexible.

Women have a lot of advantages. But because we have one of the most deadly and complicated birthing processes, a lot of changes went in that direction. While men's changes emphasized more raw machine-like traits.

So I mean, let's not forget the fact that women have the bulk of the human-making abilities.

But for one women's flexibility is better. And not just because of reduced muscle mass.

Women also have a much better sense of smell than men, and actually have noticeable pheromone responses. I haven't looked much ino it with men, but we tend to not like smelling much of anything, especially related to the body.

Women have a higher pain tolerance. Though I believe that's in combination with more sensitive nerves.

Skin structure is debatable. Men's skin is tougher and ages more slowly than women's, thanks to more structural proteins. But women's skin is softer and appears younger because they have more dermal fat.

Speaking of dermal fat, women tend to gain weight in a more even way more suited to long term survival. When men gain weight, a lot of it is liver fat around the belly which is more accessible for endurance, but can also cause liver and cardiovascular problems.

This last one is a topic of debate. But supposedly in the brain, men have a 25% smaller corpus callosum that is significantly more prone to damage from mental trauma during childhood. Probably because we are slightly behind since we have a gender transition period

But speaking of mental issues, women have the added bonus of having redundant X chromosomes, making women far less likely to get a whole host of genetic issues like color blindness. The Y chromosome really only contains the necessary information to transition a female to a male, so it's in the process of shrinking, which reduces some of the redundancy advantages.

So yeah, women have their own host of advantages. They are just mostly "under the hood" changes and less of the flashy stuff like endurance or physical strength.

As a former Corpsman (medic) in charge of getting Sailors back into shape to pass their tests, here is how I have seen the sexes perform:

1. Feats of Strength (Push-ups, pull-ups, squats, etc.): Men far surpass women in this area. It is a myth that women have stronger legs. Women have a lower center of gravity and their hips are better balanced, but that does not translate well into performance power. Some women were stronger than men, but overall in the military men far outperformed women. Women tend to focus on leg strength more, but when it came to a man and woman working the legs the same amount, the man was stronger.

2. Feats of Flexibility (Stretch and reach, ability to reach toes, etc.): Women had a significant advantage in this category. They could do better in stretches and the only men who matched the women came from martial arts backgrounds.

3. Ability to recover from/prevent injury: For the most part women had an advantage here. It really just depended on the type of exercise done. However, women seem to recover from injury faster.

4. Running: Not a significant difference. This is harder to measure due to the different standards in the Navy for men and women and also differences in age. However, comparative to the particular standards of a certain age and gender, there was not a significant difference.

Men are stronger than women on average because they

1) Are taller and bigger than the average woman

2) Genetically can build more muscle - women on the other hand genetically store more fat

They're faster because

1) They have longer legs on average

2) They have bigger hearts

Men have much higher levels of testosterone, but that alone doesn't account for it. They're just made to be bigger and stronger. God made them to protect us women.

Middle of the pack Olympic runners, whether sprinters, hurdlers, relay, or marathon, are faster than the women who win the gold, so, no, women don't have the speed advantage.

Women do have better potential for flexibility, but in all other physical athletic measures, men will outperform women. This would be true of top athletes (male and female) or if you compared the average man and the average woman. Obviously the top women would often beat the average man - but not always.

For example, WNBA teams (the best female basketball players in the world) have lost games to high school boys teams, and the women's national soccer team lost a game to an under-16 boys team.

Serena Williams has been asked about competing against men in tennis, and she was very blunt in her response, saying that she would not stand a chance against any man in the top 100. She knows the game as well as anyone, and she knows the level that she performs at and where the men perform, and is under no illusion what the reality is.

This is exactly why we have separate leagues for men and women. There are no rules against women going out for the NBA, NFL, or MLB, but they don't because they simply wouldn't be competitive.

It should be obvious to everyone that this should not be permitted. The whole reason women's leagues exist is to let women achieve their own awards and rewards. Letting genetic males come in and take all the top spots defeats the whole purpose of the league.

Notice that FtoM trans people aren't trying out for men's pro sports - they are able to recognize that changing their outer appearance doesn't make them male, and they could not be competitive due to physical differences. Yet some try to assert that this isn't the case for MtoF trans folks. There's no logical consistency, and it's morally wrong and unfair.

@Bluemax Again, there has never been a rule that prevents women from trying out for men's pro sports teams. They simply don't, because they aren't competitive at that level. Maybe one day there will be an exception (nothing is completely impossible), but even an exception or two doesn't disprove the rule.

If women could be routinely competitive against men in sports, then pro sports would be coed. But they aren't - for a reason.

Speed is definitely in men's corner. I don't think I'm high enough level to link the article but Google "are men or women faster in sports" and for me at least the first result is an article published by Duke Law's Center for Sports Law and Policy. Men and boys outperformed the top women's Olympic champion Tori Bowie and Allyson Felix's 100 and 400 meter (respectively) times 15,000 times.

Testosterone just gives men the advantage in raw power that includes upper body and lower body. Female US Marines are frequently outperformed by their male colleagues. This isn't to say they don't have the same drive and conviction. We're just built for stuff like this. Fighting, lifting, running, endurance (which the article highlights), etc.

I don't know about flexibility but from my anecdotal experience women are more flexible. I don't see the problem with any of this either. Women live longer on average than men! I'll trade you speed for another 7 years with all my kids.

Men surpass women in ALL physical attributes with leg flexibility being the only area women have the edge due to anatomy. I don't want to see any stupid comments comparing the very fastest women to the slowest men. These are exceptions to the rule, and they are few and far between.

Women are considerably slower then men. Their leg muscles are not capable of approaching a man's. This is why male Olympian runners are considerable faster than the female runners. Muscle tissue density is greater in our legs.

Strength is the most obvious and if you take a skinny man and skinny women with the bare minimum of muscle tissue, the man will be about twice as strong. This will eventually be many times that if they work out. As the two start weight training the gap will continue to increase and she will hit her limit long before he gets anywhere near his. The type of muscle tissue men have is different and it is also much denser than a woman's.

A man's stamina is also light-years ahead of a woman's. Men have bone density which is more than twice that of a woman's. Men also have an improved cardiovascular system over women. Men can move a lot more oxygenated blood around their bodies in less time than a woman.

Men have much faster reflexes than women and better hand-eye coordination. We also have greater dexterity.

Men have a greater tolerance to pain. Some women believe women do simply because women give birth. This is a myth. When men are pumped full of adrenaline, our brains release copious amounts of endorphins that substantially increases are tolerance of pain. This is why pepper spray can be ineffective. Women's brains don't really do this.

@Subarugirl This is what I do. I'm an anesthesiologist and there is no disagreement on this point within the medical community. Pain stimuli is processed the same, however the number of nociceptors activated tend to be less with men. Less activated equals less pain. And of course men's brains release endorphins when fight or flight kicks in. Women always rate pain much higher than men using the 1 - 10 scale. Generally what men rate as 4 tends to be 7 and 8 with women.

Again, this is a less than half truth. The amount of endorphins is significantly less with women. You see this when using pepper spray on male assailants. Pepper spray is virtually worthless against men and not recommended anymore. Even in prisons they don't rely on it anymore. The other day I saw some scrawny guy get harassed by some feminist abortion protesters. One of them sprayed him with pepper spray. He back hands her, takes the spray and for the next 10 minutes has all 11 or so women on their knees screaming holding their eyes. He was in pain, but able to function. They were not.

In simple terms yes, I was honestly surprised by how much to be honest, I used to play football (soccer) but hadn’t played in 5 years on top of becoming a smoker, I played in a mixed 5 a side, 3 girls 2 guys each side, all the girls are national team players and now Champions league players, the first 5-10 minutes I was genuinely surprised but after that it’s just like they run out steam pretty quickly and I was keeping up easily as an unfit barely underweight 5’6 guy, 20 mins in and every guy was out running everyone one them.


It is just genetics nothing horrible about that, but it does make me laugh when I hear a Professional woman Athlete saying to the media they would beat their male counterparts because it is impossible, as most women’s senior teams have pre seasons against U16 male’s team to build up stamina and pace of the game. On another note it’s a good thing finally they’re more girls interested in pro sports and it was about time each team had female teams along male teams!

I think it's hard to say because the truth nobody talks about is that women have a lot of catching up to do. Most woman's sports haven't been taken very seriously (even the biggest ones) and there's definitely less research that goes into how they can improve their performance than what's been done for men.

I think that women are lighter, faster in certain ways and more flexible than men.

I think women are better with resilience though. May e only in some cases. Like how they are better at long distance swimming then men.

Well, I'd say men win in all categories except flexibility... I've had some girls that are flexible beyond belief. Like, honestly I'm jealous, I've done martial arts since I was 8, and if I were that flexible, I'd never lose a fight.

But, I digress, I am 6'7" tall, and weigh about 250 lbs, no woman has ever outrun me. I am vastly faster than women who are smaller and lighter than me because my leg muscles are much larger than any women's. The muscularity advantage guys have also help with our speed. Being light with dense muscles with a lot of power would certainly make you faster, but it's the larger heavier males that have those denser muscles with more power.

I think men are built stronger in their upper body, yes, but I do feel that girls naturally have strong legs (sometimes stronger than guys) and are naturally more flexible too. Speed is pretty even in terms of body movement, except when it comes to running perhaps, because guys are often taller and have longer legs and thinner hips. In my kickboxing class guys often use their upper body more when sparring against girls, but girls have the power and flexibility in their legs to kick hard to the head and groin of their male opponent to win their matches, so that assessment seems to work well here! 👍Men have the power and running speed I would say, but girls have good leg strength and better flexibility, with both being fairly matched on speed generally. I think this is a fair generalisation, yes 🙂

Men are stronger and faster than women in everything (lifting, swimming, running, etc.). Any physical confrontation between a man and a woman will likely result in the woman being hospitalized.

However, women have greater flexibility; so, it's possible they may be better dancers/ gymnasts. They also have higher body fat percentage; so, they may be better at treading water as their buoyancy is greater.

Women also live significantly longer; so, it's difficult to say men are entirely physical superior, when all that strength ends with them dying earlier.

Flexibility definitely. With dexterity I have read that there is almost complete separation between men and women. That is the most dexterous man is less dexterous than the least dexterous woman. I guess that depends on sample size.

In terms of speed, i. e. running, the gap between male records and female records are narrowing but with men still in the lead. Got a vague recollection that might not be the case in marathons.

I like watching power ice skating. In the men's event it looks like they just get their skate where it needs to be just when they needed to. In the women's event it looks like they had plenty of time to do so.

Men are faster, more agile, fitter, stronger, tougher. Physically men are by far superior and the reason for that is simply because women have the ability to both carry and feed their offspring. Women's bones are more brittle because a woman's pelvis bones stretch to push out a child. Human child birth is not as easy as it is with other animals, this is a draw back related to human evolution of walking upright. Walking upright gave us a major advantage over other animals but also some drawbacks.

Men are actually much faster than women. They have stronger lower bodies relative to their bodyweight and overall. The gender disparity in strength relative to bodyweight is more pronounced in the upper body, but it still favors men in the lower body. They also have proportionally more lean mass than women.

There's just that biological sexual dimorphism in play when it comes to anything physical. I mean the trannies claiming to be female just to win and set new records for females pretty much even when they were losers as a male kind of points that out. Being lighter does not necessarily contribute to greater speed. If you look at the great athletes who are fast, you will find that they are actually heavier on their legs. It has to do with the power to spring forward which comes fro. The lower muscles.

Strength and speed are always where men will dominate. Look at the history of female runners VS female runners. Not one single record from the women's side comes close to breaking the male records.

There is also a reason for segregated sports. Take the Williams sisters, they are two of the best female tennis players, but they are not good enough to beat the number 200 rated male tennis player..

Or take women's soccer, the world cup women's team was beaten badly by a high school all boys soccer team..

For example. I'm pretty average. I'm 6 feet tall, about 220. Less than 10% body fat. There is not one single woman I have met that can leg press as much as me. I leg press over 800 pounds, and bench press over 300. Even female body builders can't match that.

I think men even dominate stuff women are supposed to be the best at. Have you seen makeup artists? Literally men are dominating, even though they are gay. Same with fashion and hair styling/cutting. These are areas women should be dominating but recently men are outdoing women in every way, and even creating the fashion. Obviously anything physical men will perform better at. Yes they are superior, comparing men and women makes no sense, we are too different, in the physical aspect men obviously have an advantage, a simple example: that's the reason why women sports were created. A man is naturally stronger, even if he's super skinny and never works out.
