This is in general, not about abortion specifically. No hate, just answer the poll.

Some people cannot be helped especially not people living still in the 1950s.10 Reply

What Girls & Guys Said
Opinion

314 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Yes & no. I think if women want to claim to be strong & independent then they should get no more than 50/50 from men in anything. If they want men to provide more emotional support, fix the car, fix the house, pay most of the bills, take a bullet when a criminal shows up then that's going to cost them something. The man isn't obligated to give away everything without conditions.
This is why if a woman is married - I believe - she should never have an abortion without her husband's approval. That said, physically, she obviously has the ability to harm herself/baby at any time. It's similar to how a wife wouldn't want her husband getting the babysitter pregnant and would want a vote on that. But hey... I know lots of people don't think life should be fair for men. Only for women.

+1 yIt’s not that simple. I’m FOR equality. Men do NOT have body autonomy by any stretch of the imagination. If women get it, then so should men. But no bill ever proposed on this matter meets the standard set by the 14th amendment, NONE! I am definitely opposed to some people having rights and/or privileges that other people DO NOT have. Show me a bill that provides equally for women AND men, and i’ll gladly and passionately support it.

How do men not have bodily autonomy?
- +1 y
Castration has been used exclusively as a punishment of men in the US. Only men have been put in prison for underpayment of child support. Only men are subject to “dad by default” laws, and a wider range of responsibilities that only debit men and benefit women and their children.
- +1 y
Indirectly, only men are required by law to support children they disavow. In the majority of US states, women can abandon their own children, no questions asked, at a church, fire department or police department. If a man attempted the same in those same states, he’ll be held responsible for child support to the state until the child can be found a permanent home.
- +1 y
If he’s caught trying to abandon a child in such a way as to not be held responsible, he’ll be arrested, charged and almost certainly convicted of a felony.
+1 yBodily autonomy, yes. Everyone should have it. You can do whatever woth your own body and you can't do anything with another persons body. That means I oppose any mandatory medicine (vax mandates) yet I am pro medicine and vaccinations. You can take contraceptives, but not murder an unborn child. Do with your own body as you see fit, but hand off somebody else's, especially children.

+1 yAll people should have bodily autonomy. I support THAT but I also support good virtues and values.
Men should not become deadbeat fathers but instead be there for their children as responsible and caring fathers.
Women who bear children should care for their children and prioritize their well-being.
People who don’t have children should strive to better themselves and the society around them.10 Reply
+1 yAs long as I’m not paying for someone’s irresponsibility (obesity, lung cancer from smoking, abortion, etc. - and I know health insurance premiums are technically just that) and there isn’t another person who is being harmed (a child) I couldn’t care less what people do with their own bodies.

What is a fetus
+1 yOf course! Nobody should parent an unwanted kid. And there too many at orphanage, so that's not option either. I dunno why people violate woman's body by forcing unwanted pregnancy on them! Undr no circumstances is that right.
Even if, say it was her fault, she was slutty — are you honestly thinking childbirth would change her ways? The child will suffer later, taking care of her. It's inhuman really.
00 ReplyNo, I do not support the autonomy of a person's body, if this has influences on other human subjects, be they a lump of cells, or an autonomous living being. So for consistency I do not support the autonomy of the female body in abortions, nor the autonomy of the body of any kind in anti-vaccination and anti-medicalise. Personal freedom is very restricted, it ends where that of others begins. By others I mean both that of the born and that of the unborn.

@MzAsh Long enough. But not to an American woman. If men have to get permission from their wives to get a vasectomy, then it only makes sense that women have to inform their husbands any time they do something to their reproductive systems. A wife's reproductive system affects her husband greatly.
Do you believe you have the right to have sex with other men and stay married? Of course not. Or maybe you do... Everybody knows that when you get married you have to give up some of the more unimportant freedoms you have. But, you get more in return if you do it right. Considering the fact that a husband can't just spend his own money on whatever he wants, can't change his job, etc without talking to his wife first he certainly doesn't have autonomy. It's not unreasonable to expect the same consideration from his wife.
+1 yAs a proud Trump supporter, I feel a woman's bodily autonomy should be decided by men. You know, like they do it in Afghanistan.

+1 yIn what way do they not have autonomy, if its about abortion that's because the unborn child should also have bodily autonomy.
28 Reply- +1 y
Having a fetus inside you does not negate your own bodily autonomy, she still has every right to it, and no other being in any circumstance has any right to take that away.
This is not about if they do or not have autonomy, it is if you support them having it as a general concept. - +1 y
So what about the child's body then?
- +1 y
It doesn't have any because it is still physically attached to her, still parasiting her body to grow itself within her and is still inside her without permission thus violating her autonomy. Intent means nothing, it is still happening. So her autonomy supercedes its autonomy, same as anyone else inside her without permission. Both violate that autonomy, both can be removed with lethal force. The only difference, is stage of life and intent.
- +1 y
So children are parasites, be pardon but thats a pretty fucked up world view.
- +1 y
It's only a parasite in function, it is still a human. Please don't misunderstand.
- +1 y
It's not a parasite then, it might be dependent on its parent but thats true for any mammalian offspring. And the women in my opinion exercised her autonomy when she chose to get pregnant. I'll grant there's a few exceptions like rape for instance but in most cases the woman through ignorance or apathy chose to become pregnant.
- +1 y
If she chose to get pregnant, she would not be choosing to abort it due to not wanting a child. That makes no sense, and again, it does not revoke her right to autonomy. People are allowed to change their minds, especially in regards to their own wellbeing and medical choices.
- +1 y
No she chose to have sex, pregnancy might not have been her intention but if she had had basic sex education then she knew the risks. Her irresponsibility should mean a child gets murdered.
Women were born autonomous. The question doesn't make sense. Rethink your question and ask again.

I dig the pragmatism, friend!
- +1 y
Just to be clear: zygotes, embryos, fetuses - are not "people". A pregnant person's bodily autonomy always trumps any supposed "autonomy" or "rights" of a zygote, an embryo, or a fetus.
- +1 y
I disagree on part of that point. I still dig the pragmatism!
- +1 y
@Chazmatazz269 I don't care.

Also, your opinions on this are bullshit. But I still dig the... no, sorry, there's nothing I dig about your opinions on this.
- +1 y
Of course you do. You offered a clarification that nobody asked for. OP even specified that that’s NOT the point of the question. All i did was offer my appreciation for your pragmatism because it’s so rare on this app. If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t have gone on. You didn’t have to respond at all. But you did. So obviously you care.
- +1 y
@Chazmatazz269 The "I don't care" was referring to your comments specifically, not to the overall topic. My original statement ("People should have bodily autonomy") is a general one, as the OP asked for. My clarification was in reference to abortion specifically. I don't care if "nobody asked for it", I wanted to calrify, because I don't want my statement to be misunderstood, plain and simple.
I do care about the topic. I do not care about your nonsense, which is why I'm done with you now.
Of course. Women are not property.
