Are they effective or helpful? I’m needing DBT but appointments with therapists are $200 minimum where I live, and I can’t afford that for the time being. Are workbooks worth my time and money or is it a waste? Have you ever tried using one? Let me know your experience!

I have not. Traditional talk therapy has helped me quite a bit. That's not cheap either, but neither is it $200/hour. Fortunately, I have medical insurance that will cover quite a bit of the cost.
That's a total rip off but I'm suire you already knew that.
@AngryCarl2 $200/hour? That's about the going rate in Seattle for a Ph. D. Psychologist. It seems about right to me. It takes years of training, and the fee also has to cover the cost of the office, malpractice insurance, a subscription to an appointment system, self-employment tax, medical insurance, etc.
I'm a software developer and I'm paid over $100/hour plus medical benefits and paid time off. A psychologist charging $200/hour may not be as well off.
Years of training my ass. It's basically just Cognitive Therapy, which anyone can do if they've read the book.
@AngryCarl2 I have no idea about DBT. Licensed therapists train both academically, then work under supervision for some time. Ph. D. Psychologists train for some years, then intern before being granted a license to practice independently.
Isn't that just a posh term for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? I guess I'm just displaying my ignorance. No, I haven't seen them.
I’m unsure what Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is, but DBT is known to effectively ease symptoms and treat people primarily with Borderline Personality Disorder.
Well then good!
never heard of it
