Any parents here who have ever dealt with a clingy toddler, how do you cope?

I'm a single mum with a 1-year-old. I've been struggling with everything, including her lack of sleep, but now we are also at the point where she has become very clingy. She has a bunch of toys but refuses to play with them, as she just wants to be in my arms all the time. I'm mentally and physically exhausted, and I'm also sleep deprived from her not wanting to sleep.

I've reach out asking for help multiple times especially regarding the sleeping and so far no help.

I spent first two years with Drama Queen all the time with me... she slept with me, ate eith me, visited toilet or took a shower with me and only me... it was the easiest and most peaceful solution... one day she went to her sister room and demanded she will sleep there now...

If your child needs you close, just comply, they grow up too fast... you will miss it soon

I do comply but this is all new to me. I’m truly not used to anyone wanting me let alone being clingy to the point they will grab a hold of me and will scream bloody murder if I have to get them to let go so I can go to the toilet. It’s makes it more challenging because my dad just got diagnosed with cancer and I’m about to become his full time carer driving him to all of his appointments because he has been banned from driving for 6 months.

I’ve tried showering with her but she hates it and will even get there trying to stand up to hold on to me. I had to babysit my nieces and nephews and they were never

unfortunately all you can sort of do is try to push through it. was a bit of a phase for my kids. Hopefully you have people around at least able to help you

Nope he decided when I was 6 months pregnant that he didn’t want to be with me and that he wasn’t ready to be a dad so he left.

Yes we were married at the time but are now officially divorced.

What about family or friends who can help? Maybe give you a break?

My dad has cancer. I have zero contact with my sisters after they ruined my birthing experience, left me with no photos of the birth of my baby before they went on to assault me which they were arrested and charged with. As for friends, I’ve always been a loner in life!

I’m sorry to hear that. So aside from those bad things, do you have some things besides your child that are good in your life? You work?

The company I worked for went out of business 2 weeks after I gave birth and while I was on maternity leave due to their contracts being pulled, so I don’t currently work at the moment. I’m also not in a position to be able to look for work because I am the one who is having to take dad to and from all of cancer treatment appointment’s.

Prior to dad being diagnosed with cancer my daughter and I were doing activities for her 3 days a week which really helped, but sadly I’ve had to pull out of all of them to help dad.

There’s nothing there as far as the state paying you to be a caregiver to your dad?

Dad was asked while in the hospital by staff about having a carer and he refused multiple times to have one. My damn brother who lives here as well doesn’t help. He refuses to do his own dishes or cook his dinner. He won’t even go to the shops to do grocery shopping or even to just buy bread.

I’m sorry to hear that. Maybe you could talk to your dad about it. I mean honestly if he thinks about it even if he really didn’t want to be dependent on someone it would help you out to not only be there w him but somewhat financially. That way he can spend more time w his granddaughter.
