Speaking as the NT of the NT-AS relationship.

Breaking up with an Aspie is probably the best option in the long run. You will be able to tolerate her behavior right now but it will eat away your patience eventually.

I can say this from experience. one year turns to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4 and before you know it, the stress is killing you. You begin to care less in regards to her AS behavior and even resent how little appreciation you've received over the years. This will be life long if you choose to stay. Aspies are unable to change. Some will try but they are hardwired to frustrate the average Joe. If you think getting your point across to an average woman is hard, an AS woman will stick to a defeated argument until you give up. They can't understand or anticipate how you'll feel. If they get it right, it's probably because they've been told to react a certain way or have learned it from past conflicts.

I'm aware what I've written is all negative but it's the truth. Ask anyone who has been in a serious relationship with an Aspie. If you look for empathy, tender moments and cute little thoughtful girlfriend activities (like in the movies), an Aspie will not give that to you.

There have been many lovely moments with my ex but the negatives far...far outweigh the positives. It takes a special person to tough it out through this path. While I commend his or her commitment, I wouldn't recommend it. Everyone deserves to be happy. Love is hard, but not this hard.

Anyways, that's just me. I hope there are more happy AS-NT relationships out there.

A lot of it depends on what you have. If you have Anti-Social Personality Disorder, then getting advice from someone with anorexia isn't going to do you a whole lot of good.

As for me, I have two: I have Borderline Personality Disorder (high-functioning) and Avoidant Personality Disorder. The former makes me crave love more than anything and the second makes me too shy to go out and find it.

Because of this combination, I don't have a lot of ex's out there, but to the ones I have dated, I have been extremely loyal and caring towards them (maybe too much so, in retrospect). I want them to love me so much that I put up with more than I probably should.

I can't say that I've found any way around this yet, but when I do, I'll be happy to share the secret.

I've never had a relationship that lasted more than a few months and I have a very hard time dealing with girls. Basically my dating life is nonexistent because of it. Girls have described the way I behave on dates as "cold" and "creepy" because of my lack of body language or facial expression and the fact that I often speak in a flat monotone voice. And that's just the tip of it.

I've pretty much given up on the idea of dating, honestly. I've come to the conclusion that a girl who can deal with me being who I am, if she exists at all, is so rare that my odds of ever meeting one are like winning the lottery.

I hope you don't give up. I used to have preconceived notions about myself. Until I got rid of them. You may not give yourself enough credit. I'm sure there are plenty that would think otherwise about you. I used to be a lot worse, but now I'm prince charming. It happens.

I'm 33 and over the last year and a half I've changed incredibly and can now date, etc. You're never too old.

honestly? I just don't think its possible. I recognize who and what I am and I recognize that its a lot for a woman to swallow, and I don't think anyone who is compatible with me exists

Years ago I was unemotional and all that and still the girls came a running. Even though I wasn't really interested. Maybe, I was just cute and they didn't care about the other things. Not sure, but less your ugly, you've got a chance, I think.

My depression and anxiety and adhd have all pretty much ruined any relationship I've ever had.

My tip is don't attempt dating until you feel normal and have a good controller medicine.

Well it's hard for us that have something like that. Only tip is to try harder than these without them do. You have to be special, because all of us with psychic problems are. So try to be extra sensitive. Just amplify something that others do not have. Because everyone has his strong card somewhere. You just have to try much much more and harder. It's worth it :)
