It'll be so much easier for him. Its not just that he'll have more muscle and a higher metabolism. His baseline cardio level will be way higher, and his capacity to burn calories far beyond average people. Benefits of HIIT type exercise can disappear in a few months, but the slower changes from large amounts of steady state work - bigger heart, lower resting heart rate, better blood flow to muscles - will still be there.
He'll be able to jump on an exercise bike and within a few weeks knock out a couple of hours of steady state work if he wants to, something the average out of shape person cannot do.

Interesting concept. But losing all that weight should still be easier for him than a person who grew up obese. His body already has the muscle built (whats left after 6 months of not working out at least) and once he jumps back into gear it'll make the transition more natural
I think its a smart idea and here is why:
So many trainers/medical professionals tend to forget or not even know how it feels to be obese, and how hard it is to quite the lifestyle of eating junk food. Especially the availability, the cost, the taste, etc.
I think he is now going to have a better idea of what is going to work for his clients and can actually connect with them.
well this will get him a lot of attention, and if it works-a lot of money, new clients, but health wise-not the best idea

I personally think that's insane. I believe the biggest hurdle in people getting fit is the pain and mental toughness needed to push yourself, he probably has that toughness and therefore it will inevitably be much easier for him to get back in shape, not to mention he knows exactly how to eat and exercise. It's a good marketing stunt though.
LOL! Well he already has all that underlying muscle mass so his metabolism is going to be higher and he will burn it off more quickly. It's good to show how to lose fat weight, but it is a little misleading. He might be able to lose that 50-60 LB in 6 months but most people would need a little over a year to do the same thing.
I think it's a great idea and this will surely better market him as a personal trainer. I think that he can return to his former physique. Working out and staying in shape is really 100% mental. If you are dedicated then you will yeild result's.
Not a good idea, gaining a losing weight in a fast amount of time can cause a lot problems with your heart. I understand what he is trying to do but I can see him ending up with a serious medical problem if he does this.
The food addiction will be the toughest hurdle for him to get over. Once you get hooked it's like smoking cigarettes. Yes he's crazy but I'm glad someone like him is stepping up.
Yes, he's just plain jutw. As if his clients needed him to have their perspective!
Dumb. Though since I was fat and am now in pretty good shape, I have thought about being a trainer because I know what people are going through.
