Are there such thing as "workout clothes"?

I don't really work out but I'm going to start anyway because I feel like crap, not because I want to look better to women (since not all women like big bulky guys) but because I just want to feel better about myself. I'm one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet so even if I did become big and bulky I wouldn't let that change my attitude.

So, I was wondering if there's such thing as "workout clothes". OK, so maybe that sounds like a stupid question but..again, this coming from a guy who like almost NEVER works out.

My dad was telling me he would train with me and he said he just has to remember to "bring his workout clothes with him". I guess I just wasn't sure what he meant by that?

It really depends on what you're doing. If you're running/jogging, especially in this cool weather I would suggest a pair of running sweats. Not the windbreakers because those are annoying to run in, but the kind that nike or asic makes for soccer players; they are expensive, but they last forever. Aside from that just a comfortable t-shirt, shorts, and that other thing guys need to have, that you don't mind sweating in or just working out in. Normally when I go for a run I still wear my college and high school tees, but I also wear all of my brothers old shirts because they fit and because they have funny sayings and are just comfortable. For example, I have worn his knit tees from pacsun and hollister and I absolutely love the material and feel great running in them. Recently I did purchase a shirt that reads "Catch me" (Front) and "If you can" (back). I actually love running in this shirt because it boosts me mentally. Also try to get tees that fit; they aren't too long or too short, too tight or too loose; but comfotable. In regards to shorts, just try on a few and see which ones fit you best; most companies that specialize in work-out clothes have completely different sizing. I wear an xs short in nike, but I wear up to a medium in adidas. Pay attention to the waist band; if its too tight or too loose don't get them; they may "look" good, but they will be a pain to workout in. Trust me its better to go with comfort than looks.

For shoes, good luck. From personal experience I have worn and run in asics, adidas, and nike. Of these three, I've had the best luck with Nike. Not only do they NOT give me blisters, but they are comfortable and I get more longevity out of them. A sidenote is that when I ran in asics, they give me horrible shin splits to the point that after every workout my college trainer made me take an ice bath :/

Its pretty much shorts/sweats that you can move around in and feel comfortable/breathe at the gym. There's no rules or guidelines to what to wear to the gym as long as you have clothes on, they're not jeans, and you can workout in them.

Yes there are. And not a stupid question at all. As a guy its good to be wearing the proper clothes for everything. It gives you a sense of professionalism and it motivates you to do what you are supposed to do while wearing them: in this case working out. Lets start with shoes: Buy a couple of Reebok, Adidas or nikies. Running shoes that's what you want. Also a t-shirt. Plain white or plain black would do fine. Dont have too big pants on you. And all of this is not so that you look good and feel good. It will let you move well and stuff so...

There are. However many men wear them all day long, which is ironic, given that many of them are incapable of exerting themselves for more then a few minutes.

In any case, whatever you are wearing during a workout is going to be soaked with sweat when you're done, so you'll want fresh clothes for after.

Oh - you also want briefs, not boxers, if you're doing anything beyond just lifting weights.

of course there are. They tend to be most comfortable and some even wick away sweat to keep you dry and more comfy during workouts. Check out d***'s sporting good, target, sport authority they all have a workout clothes. You can work out in tshirts and shorts but the best is like classic grade school gym attire :)

Well, ou need some clothes you can sweat in. T shirts and sweat pants, in other words, or shorts if it's warm. I try to wear soethig a ttle stylish and colorful, because that puts me in a good mood before working out, and the women sometimes take notice.

Of course there are! Go to Dick's Sporting Goods, where practically everything is an article of work-out clothing.
