If you're definitely only going to use the gym for the treadmill, yup, you might as well just buy a treadmill. I agree with what other people have said about the benefits of the variety of equipment at the gym, though. But if you know you probably won't use them, the membership is kind of a waste. You can still have a variety at home too, by buying weights and such.
I bought a treadmill a long time ago because I hate the idea of exercising around other people. Not really the exercising part, just being around people in general, haha. Plus, I've found that exercising alone allows me to pay more attention to how my body's feeling. It's less stressful as well.

gym membership. if you get a treadmill at home you probably won't use it and it'll be the death of your working out. If you wanna shake things up stop working out on the treadmill. switch to the elliptical or the stairmaster.
The gym membership gives you access to trainers who can guide you through the various activities available, and you have different types of workouts available.
Just getting a treadmill isn't good because the treadmills have an unnatural gait and too much use of them isn't wise. For aerobic workouts when the weather outside is bad, it's fine. Also, you'll get bored before long.on a treadmill.
AT the gym you can change your routine daily if you wish, take different classes, learn about martial arts, and a lot of sports you've never tried.
Treadmills are pretty expensive usually like $300 up most being near $500. That being said that is usually enough to pay for an entire year at the gym. I workout at home just because my work schedule is weird and I usually end up working out at like 3am so a gym just doesn't work for me. I just run on the street though. If your not good at it get better.
I started this and it helped a lot. I don't run enough though I just lift mostly but I did notice a difference after the first week.

treadmill = high impact cardio, nothing else. gym membership = multiple tools for resistance training as well. no contest. however there are other, better, WAY CHEAPER at home fitness tools comparable to a gym membership in versatility and quality.
you can do wonders at home with a jump rope and a rest of resistance bands with door attachment. or a suspension trainer.Gym membership is more worth it. Most people don't have the discipline to work out hard and consistently at home.
If you do want to workout at home, you don't need a treadmill. To full body exercises that involve full motions with the body.gym membership,
treadmills are expensive and I don't know anyone who has invested in excercise equipment and had the discipline to use it regularly for more than week.i have been going to the gym for about 9 years. And see that in my dp...thats me...so I have the expirience and knowledge. Depending on your goals I can give you my advice. What are your goals first?
It doesn't cost anything to run outside and you get to explore a new and different atmosphere each day.
Home equipment and workout all the way.
