What is an effective way to get rid of a headache?

I usually get headaches and I don't like using medication. I wear glasses only for reading so I know that's not my problem. I just need some remedies for curing a headache please?

- Have enough sleep and don't stay awake until a late hour at night.

- Examine your eyes regularly to see if there's any change in the visual acuity. (Every 6 months)

- You should go to the doctor (a neurologist) to discover the reason of the frequent headaches.

- Try to relax your body and breath deeply to reduce the stress.

- Vitamin deficiency can be a reason too, so always try to have multi-vitamins and a balanced diet.

- Some doctors say that if the headache continues and you didn't take your medication as soon as possible, then the body will start releasing the histamine substance which is very dangerous if it is released in huge amount in your body!

With the last point, do you mean if I don't have any painkillers it can sometimes be dangerous?

Yes I was watching a program where doctors have mentioned this! So you should take painkillers but you shouldn't just depend on them and you should go to see the doctor maybe there's a reason for the frequent headaches!

I had the same case but the pain was only in a half of my head, I tried to ignore it but then I thought maybe it's a Migraine headache, which is something serious, so I went to the doctor and now it's OK!

What do you mean by 'meditate'? What exactly do you do when meditating?

Find a comfortable way to sit, close

your eyes, empty your mind

and take a deep breath =)

may sound hard if you aren't used

to it, but it really helps if you do it right =)

usually inhaling the steam from a kettle after it just boiled hot water and then slowy drink a hot cup of tea without sugar while lying on your bed for 20 minutes.

The funny thing is I usually do but I don't always want to rely on it. I only want to use medication if I need it 100%

Yeah, it should work. I know what you mean. sometimes it can be so bad and then you can use something like panadol soluable max which I use and it is excellent for headaches.

i'd say you should be fine tho. :)

I find that mercindol works wonders lol! I like using medication but I hear medication is harming you rather than helping. But I don't know, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry right?

It doesn't do anything for you in the long run so your better off getting rid of the pain without the need of medication.

But if it's really bad then yeah, better safe than sorry! lol
