i can think of a few reasons
1) you are very depressed and/or tired. when you are seriously upset and in a really crappy mood it will affect your abilities to get really pumped. you may not even be able to exercise as intensely as you would otherwise. this has happened to me, on days I am really really tired, or very upset about something. though if I am in a crabby mood and not that tired I can often get myself uplifted again.
2) you aren't working out hard enough to get to that point. to get to that feel good, endorphin rush point, you need to work pretty hard for at least 10 minutes of intense cardio, start sweating a lot, that's when the endorphins make you feel good and you push yourself more instead of tiring out. but if you don't even get to that level, you will probably just get bored and not want to continue.
3) you are overexerting yourself...working out too hard that it works your muscles too much and just doesn't feel good. this is especially true if you aren't a regular at working out at a gym, the key is balance, finding a good point where you exert but don't hurt.

I think you may have some self esteem issues to work out.
If when you work out you play a negative tape over and over in your head, of course you will feel awful- you just beat yourself up for about an hour!
If you try to stop the negative talk at least while you work out and replace it with encouragement or listen to music and zone out, pretending you're a famous singer or something (we all do that), then you will be surprised with how good you feel after.
Overall though, I think you need to find out why you feel so bad and what you feel so bad about before you can fix it.
Endorphins are released to numb your pain during a current workout. Quite literally they are natural morphine. They numb pain. They do NOT fix emotional issues.
With that said, working out usually helps stress because it distracts and makes you feel productive and confident.
Your mind is extremely complex. Depression is not simply cured by working out. Being born in a sh*t hole, I think it helps though. It's a place to get my anger out. If I am upset, I convert that to anger, and convert that to mental fuel for my workout. And I get it out of my system through that method.
Depression makes you feel weak, and demotivates you in a workout. Anger makes you feel strong. Take a pivotal point of your depression, and I'm sure you have a reason to be mad. Think about it. Focus in on how angry it makes you during your warm up... then when you've gotten relatively angry about it, really start pushing your workout.
It's not a cure. But I think it'll help you, as it has me, to have some type of healthy release.
You might be dehydrated. Drink more water. Don't over exert yourself if you haven't exercised in a while. It also takes time to get back into exercising. The first few times after an extended break you are sore, and exhausted, but with continued exercise you it improves. Remember to stretch as well.

Feel worse emotionally or physically?
A week is nothing. First off, your body isn't used to it. You're out of shape, so exercising right off the bat won't be a walk in the park. It shouldn't be entirely painful, but a gradual process. Give it some time and find things at the gym that you enjoy.
Emotionally, what other factors are coming into play? Are you feeling worse because you aren't seeing instant results? Are you trying to compare yourself to others at the gym?
Elaborate a bit more on how it's making you feel worse. How long are you working out intensely? By this I mean cardio at an intense rate where you're pushing yourself. Endorphins typically are released 30-60 minutes into the workout. You could just not be reaching your point where the endorphins are released. Also, its only been 2 days. Give it sometime. Get into it and focus on it and I can guarantee you'll feel better in a week. But you have to want to feel better. You have to be motivated to not feel depressed. Think positive.
you are not used to the exercise yet, you have only been working out for 2 days.
it probably hurts more than feels good at this point. when you get in better shape it will change.I have no evidence for this, but I suspect that only some people get the endorphine release after exercise.
I love running, but I've never felt the so-called runners high. I run for different reasons.your not use to it yet give it time:)
