Not sure how it is in Ottawa. For a long time in Toronto basically only hot dogs were legal to sell from trucks/carts. At some point city council decided to expand it but instead of just letting it happen they micromanaged the hell out of it, spent tons of money and bankrupted everyone who tried to go along with it. I think they are loosening up now and a few are starting to appear but basically bylaws suppressed it till now.

I have traveled all over the world and eaten street food everywhere. The only food poisoning I have ever had was from a regular restaurant in the US. I would say if there is a line up, they are repeats. and if so they trust the vendor. go for it. a great world of food out there.
In Toronto, they have this food truck guy that makes the best poutine in the world. (at least I think so)
I didn't even know what a poutine was until I visited Toronto and one girl told me to try it. I thought it sounded gross but it sure didn't taste bad.
I did once when I was riding a greyhound from tx to nm.. And omg I really think they mightve just grabbed a stray cat and cooked it up... It was gross I took one bite and wanted to puke...
No, I think your mom was correct. I don't think I'd trust it either. I have a thing about food poisoning. All of that vomitting...not good. Not good at all.

Yea they are at like fairs and stuff but they aren't around like they have in cities I wish. A lot of them have really good food and the price is pretty good.
All the time. In a big city it is considered pretty normal. As long as we're not talking about a pickup truck or something ;)
like a food cart/stand? I have. there are these guys by my school that make awesome chicken and rice.
I havee. Me and my friends go to taco trucks all the time, and they're really good :)
I have and they have great food.
No but I'm willing to try it out.
