Interesting theory about eye contact...

I always thought that the person who makes and maintains eye contact the longest is the more dominant. But I recently read somewhere that someone who avoids eye contact with you is actually more dominant because they're not even gracing you with their attention.

Interesting because I've known guys who seemed very keen on me to just blank me in public and now I'm not sure if they're just shy or they think I'm below them!

The dynamic applies to business situations too. What are your thoughts?

Such theories about dominance and eye contact, are all bullsh*t anyway when it comes to humans.

We don't act like animals in the wild anymore. We do not do those types of displays to express dominance.

CEO's don't get up before shareholders, and prove that they have the reddest arse in the room.

We have different means of showing dominance now - and they aren't animal based.

It's the WAY you maintain or deny eye contact that determines the "dominant" person in this activity.
