Question about bad teeth

ill start by saying I don't know if this person has dental insurance and even if they did they wouldn't go to the dentist.

when I first met him I noticed a chipped rotting tooth, as time went on I noticed more rotting teeth and the two front ones are turning dark yellow starting from the gum line.

i think theyre getting worse and the teeth smell bad. they kind of give off a rotten egg smell when he opens his mouth.

i also noticed his fingers and hands were black with dirt.

could this be from bad hygiene?

drug use? if so what kind?

Sounds like both. I will say in defense of the insurance issue that he could have dental and just be capped on his limits until the next cycle. Dental insurance is not very well regulated at all and there are a lot of bad dentists out there that will rack up their bills unnecessarily or simply not know what they are talking about. A lot of people with dental benefits have very low amounts and a lot of procedures cost a lot.

The thing that concerns me is the smells. That tells me bad hygiene.

poor oral hygiene and if his hands are dirty, then most hygiene is being ignored. Dirty hands say a lot where bad looking teeth can happen to anyone, even if looked after, no one knows when their enamel will start to thin, so you cannot really judge peoples hygiene by their teeth, but their hands, you can, because hands should always be clean, so just get him to use mouth wash after brushing and bath daily,x

It could be from both honestly! I think whatever the issue is stay away from it because lord knows what they have, but whatever it is they need to get it fixed! Sometimes it could be from whatever sickness or disease or if they even have a health issue, they have you never know, but there is no way I would put myself in the predicament to deal with it just because you don't know what baggage comes with it! Just being honest!.. could be different for others!

Could be from bad hygiene and/or drug use. If drug use is the case, methamphetamine rots teeth faster than any other and is typically seen in frequent users. Although, I wouldn't allow bad teeth alone to convince me someone has a drug problem. With his hands being dirty also, its evident he clearly has bad hygiene, which I would say is the case here. Then again... bad hygiene is common with meth users... something to think about. Does he sleep, lol?

yes he does sleep and works full time.

If he's not an auto mechanic (to explain his dirty hands) and no other signs to indicate possible drug use then I would say its just bad hygeine.

Wow how could someone have bad hygiene and oral hygiene. Even people who don't go to the dentist know they have to brush and floss. My dad would say a good indictor of a low class person is their teeth. This just sounds so gross. Sounds like they don't wash there hands much either. I think you need to tell this person that they have no other choice but to go get them checked out by the dentist.

i do/have done most drugs I can easily tell a meth user and he is definitely one

he does crystal methamphetamine, you smoke this in a pipe

you should probably stay away from him and whatever you do don't loan him ANY money you will NEVER get it back...

what are some signs besides the teeth? is it possible for him to keep a full time job if he uses?

also he does sleep normal hours like 8pm-6am. he complains that his stomach hurts a lot. do you still think he uses?

on meth you can go for days without sleeping some other signs might be overactivity, teeth chattering and his stomach might hurt from lack of food

with his teeth condition tho I'm almost positive, tht is the best way to tell a meth user

their teeth rapidly decay...

Could be from really bad oral hygiene like gum disease & gingivitis out of control. Drug use possibly like meth and heroine can rot the teeth pretty fast.

I don't know if it is about drugs, but I once knew one guy who didn't brush his teeth, and they smelled really bad. If you ask this guy, perhaps he could tell you.

Could be ... or his line of work.

Someone might mention that a friend of theirs DIED from avoiding the dentist (Google some examples), then someone might give him a nail brush & soap for his sink.
