Girls, do you learn about things just so you can talk about them?

I'm a pretty physically fit guy but I had sports. I have a nice routine but honestly you can consider me a nerd, I love video games and computers.

I'm sort of having nothing to contribute to sports talk.

My question is this: Girls, do you learn about things like endure a TV show you hate so that you can talk about it with your friends tomorrow?

Guys can answer too: Guys, do you keep up with sports you hate just so you can talk about it?

Definitely not- I see no reason to pretend to be interested in something I'm not. Most people consider me a nerd too. For example- I visited my friend last weekend and what did we do- spent an evening and an afternoon in a museum, then another in a cafe discussing history with her friends. I read a hell of a lot more than I watch TV and I'm not into fashion or celebrity gossip.

It used to bug me a bit, thinking I didn't fit in much with most people. But I've discovered people like you regardless of whether you can talk about their favorite show or sport. I have what I call my "nerd friends" (like the one I spent last weekend with) and "laid back friends" (who aren't remotely interested in what I'm reading, history, politics or current events). I get along with both because while I like spending a weekend in museums, cafes and book stores, I also enjoy a weekend spent drinking with friends by the campfire, laying on the beach, playing ridiculous games, and watching stupid movies. Am I a nerd- sure I am, but my "laid back friends" love me anyway.
