Yes, you will lose weight initially but the second you can't maintain the low carb lifestyle anymore you will gain it back and then some. It's very hard to sustain because you will crave carbs so much.
I tried every fad diet under the sun and it was only once I stopped desperately trying to lose weight and just ate healthy and exercised when I felt like it I began to lose weight. I managed to lose 80 pounds that way.
If you want it to last you need something sustainable.

I have the same problem. You can probably never completely go back to your old lifestyle, so you'll have to eat carbs in moderation. Try to gradually up your carb intake every day and see how much carbs a day makes you gain weight. When you find an amount that keeps your weight about the same, then just go with that. But allow yourself one or two cheat days a week and then limit your intake during the next two days.
