If you're 18, first of all you're growing and you need food. Don't start fasting 24/7 or something...Food is good, but in moderation...eat more often but smaller portions...like 5 meals a day, but half of what you usually eat. Make sure you eat good stuff...the food groups and all that...Don't overload on sugars and treats etc. Drink a lot of water, you'll feel full without eating as much. And don't give in to every temptation...You have to be able to say no...and if you're hungry every hour, eat every two hours to start...then every 3 hours etc. If you can only make it to every 3 hours, that's fine...you'll find you will loose weight...also, loosing weight isn't just about what you eat, it's about exercising too! Don't forget to work out and burn those calories! lol and one more thing...It takes a while for your stomach to communicate to your brain that you are full...so you might still be eating while you're full...so chew more and eat slowly and you'll find you will eat less... Best of luck!

First off to lose weight you have to exercise. The more you exercise the more you have to eat to suplement the energy you are burning.
Average person needs to take in 1550 calories without exercise. If you do 1 hour of consistent cardio (to burn fat) you can eat an additional 200-300 calories. This isn't an exact # but you can get the gist of it.
www.sparkpeople.com can help you track your eating and exercise habits and if you set a target weekly calories burned amount it tells you how much you can eat per day and gives you example meals to meat that goal. There are plenty of good foods that are low in calories and fat and not high in sugar that are eatable.
Also, you need to do weight training to tone up as you use the cardio to burn the fat.
Also, eating 5-6 small meals per day (every 2.5 hours) helps speed up your metabolism than eating 3 large meals per day.
Do you eat more (feel more hungry) when you are upset/stressed/depressed? If so, then you are using food to "make you feel better". If that is the case, try to work on the cause. If you can't, then at least try to find something else to make you feel better that doesn't make you gain weight.
One thing you can do is exercise. Run, ride a bike, lift weights.

Loving food is fine but not overdoing it. Tricks to feeling full:
1) Eat slowly: chew your food slowly and take drinks of water between each bite (this helps you to feel full)
2) Hunger is often confused with thirst: A majority of people do not drink enough water and therefore their tummy will start growling not for food but for water. Always carry water with you and keep yourself hydrated.
3) Eat smaller meals but more frequent. Snacking in between is fine as long as the snacks are sensible (fruit, veggies etc).
4) Do you find yourself bored eating? By this I mean that you eat even when you aren't necessarily hungry.Well, sometimes there are psychological issues at work if you turn to food that much or medical conditions. Now, understand me - I am not saying you are crazy but maybe you went through something traumatic when you were younger and never dealt with it- so, you are emotionally eating. There are also medical conditions but I would talk to a doctor or family abt it. Sometimes its all abt self control, which is a choice 90% of the time. If you can't seem to stop yourself then there is something that you have yet to deal with - whether you may realize it or not.
Drink water, it'll make you feel fuller. And sometimes hunger when you shouldn't be hungry can be a sign of dehydration. Also, eat more vegetables, there's little calories in them, so you could snack on those.
