So, should laws be in place to allow a polygamous marriage between consenting adults?
Why, why not?
It could end up messy. Would the guy and or women be able to be married more than once at the same time? Would the guy and or women be able to marry both sexes or just the opposite sex? How many times would the guy and or women be allowed to get married at once? Worse case scenario would be both guts and women can marry both sexes and be married to any number of people and get married any number of times. For example: with only 3 people involved you could have up to 3 marriages. With 4 people involved you could have up to 6 marriages. With 5 people involved you could have up to 10 marriages. How would taxes be filled?
probably not, also if it ever became permitted, I would want a law that polygamous marriages are not entitled to public assistance.
Otherwise some dude married to 4 or 5 women who sires 20+ kids end up being a drain on the tax payer.
Thanks!!!
The only issue with polygamy becoming legal would be figuring how out taxes and benefits would work legally. Should there be a limit on how many people someone can be married to at one time? If yes, then what is an acceptable number and why stop there? What if it's just one person married to only x amount of people and they are only married to that one person? What if it's a group marriage where all the people involved are married to each other?
Yes, this should be allowed as it involves consenting adults. Whatever people do in their personal life, as long as it doesn't impact anyone else negatively should be legal. I'm also of there mindset that you can be in love with multiple people at one time so why suppress these feelings because of an antiquated social construct humans have created.
If people want to do it and they agree to do it out of love and wanting to be togeather, then I say go for it. We are all unique individuals, we should not tie down anyounes personal liberties (unless it hurts someone else's). So let people do it, if it is done for the right reasons, I don't see anything wrong with it. ^-^
thanks for the MHO ^-^

No. Can people be happy in polygamous relationships? Sure. Doesn't matter. Laws about marriage and such are there for the benefit of society, and polygamy is incredible destructive to any society it becomes widespread in.
Polygamists... ehhh there is a proper response to them

what exactly is the danger of polygamy?
polygamy has actually been applied in some cultures history when population size outgrew local resources, so I'm really curious to know what the proven danger is that has you fearing them enough to warrant the lame "shoot them" gif gag.
@empresssquee in ukraine, genocide was also applied when the population was bigger than the food supply.
Polygamy helps ensure society never rises above a certain level, and requires the top elite to constantly cull the male population. See the lds church and how they forcible expel so many men. Or the middle east and jihad.
@empresssquee better question is can you name any civilization that accepted polgamy and had success like the West?
I'm fine with it as long as everyone getting married is happy, and it can't be so huge number of people. It should be limited to three of four.
It would get abused so hard because of all the legal/financial rights (path to citizenship, welfare, social security, joint taxes) that come with civil marriage. If marriage was stripped from these legal/financial rights (like in Israel) then polygamy and polyandry could and probably would be legalised and I wouldn't be bothered by that.
That just sounds like a nightmare for the groom, 3 women and their drama to deal with 24/7... I'd rather gargle with drano
Probably brings out the women's A-game lol
hahaha played out since the 90s joke about how women are drama. so funny.
everyone is drama. literally everyone. regardless of gender.
also, polygamy doesn't mean "multiple wife's". it could be any combination of genders...4 husbands and 2 wife's
I've been in a poly relationship with 5 women and 1 man. some girls got jealous and bickered among themselves and when they got overly dramatic we dumped them.
I speak from experience when I say, he was not complaining.
"Got overly dramatic" as if coming in to prove my point 😂 just because u dumped them doesn't mean he didn't have to put up with some drama all the time. He's a trooper to make it all work is what I'm saying
Lmao 😂😂
I think as long all are adults and are consenting it should be allowed. I wouldn't be interested in being in a marriage like that but that doesn't mean other's shouldn't be allowed.
I'd never be in polygamous relationships either but whoever wants it should have a right to do it. Women are still more than men in the world. I am for polyandrous relationships too haha
Absolutely disgusting and degenerate. The answer is no.
why?
@empresssquee You know that if you destroy the family unit, you will only weaken our nation and culture as a whole. Your situation aside, if everybody just starts free-loving what am I supposed to expect 10-20 years down the road? I'm a young guy, after all, what am I supposed to expect in 2070 when I'm an old guy?
Do you think at that point we'd be a respectable country (assuming you're an American here)? Do you think that if it's a fuck up that it could ever be fixed? Do you think that this sort of issue is important? Will there be an effect on our society?
I'm not saying what we have is perfect, but you realise that society only stands because of the thousands of decisions individuals and couples make every day.
No, absolutely wrong. It goes against everything that's right. I see it as pure disrespect.
People making decisions is disrespect?
Disrespectful, and wrong. That's my opinion and you aren't changing it. Either of you.
How is it disrespectful and why does it matter? Is same sex and inter racial marraige disrespectful too?
No, I'm bisexual. I just think people having multiple spouses is wrong. That's how I see it. That's how it is.
Well thats a very narrow conservative view, you don't want to be on the wrong side of history.
Well it's my view
Not very progressive.
I don't need progress
No, because it is an agreement by 2 people. If the two of them are mature enough to both choose to be in a polygamous marriage, common sense is more than enough.
Giving the possibility of do that by contract would completely eliminate the sense of "being a couple" in the long run, I'm afraid.
if they are to legalize it here they need to adapt our taxes and our socialist system to it because lets just say that you can hack it if you practice polygamy.
My view is that if everyone is happy let them do it, lets face it that a polygamous relationship is most likely odds wise to produce children so these children need a clear legal standing for one with inheritance etc.
because marriage is between 2 people not several. on a pragmatic level it will be exploited so harshly.
If LGBT, why not poligamous? If marriage is not between a man and a woman then why does gender and number matter anymore?
NO. Why heck he wants 3, most men can't even handle one. That's just sad that these women want that kind of life.. fights, jealousy,... it's a mess.
no, because it's just ridiculous that you need more than one wife or husband in your life. i wouldn't ever be in a polygamous relationship/marriage because it seems odd
just because it seems odd to you isn't a valid reason for calling it ridiculous. A) Nobody really needs a husband or wife at all B) There actually has been legitimate benefits to polygamy in history, particularly when population size would get too overwhelming for local resources. in some cultures when this happened women would take multiple husbands.
Yes. And it will happen sooner or later. Since Enlightenment, history have been heading towards the idea that society's morals should get the fuck out of decisions that concern only those who make it.
If your wanna manny your. Dad, sister brother, mom pr fucking 50 men their is no reason. Why anyone should. Have a right to tell you. U can't no matter hpw wrong they think. It is.
What are you trying to say? Made no sense reading it as it is typed.
Marry
only if a woman can have multiple husbands...
If we recognise gay and transexual I say why not.
if people are happy they can live their life however they wish
