If you desired to get married would you consider having a spiritual wedding/marriage instead of a legal one. if so why or why not?

some people would rather not get legally married in this day and age. often due to roughly half of legal marriages ending in divorce. so a non-legal or spiritual marriage could be an option for some couples. since the couple would only be married under the eyes of their religious beliefs and not under the eyes of the government. that way if they somehow breakup in the future for verses reasons their not legally bond to each other. but should they later decide to make it legal there are options like visiting the local court house or having another wedding/vow renewal.

but honestly if you need a legal document to prove you love your partner. what happens when you fall out of love with them or no longer wish to continue the marriage?

because a legal marriage can fell like the couple is stuck together by a legal document. until they get legally separated and/or later divorced. if things don't work out for the couple long term.

No. I need a marriage to declare to the government that I wish to be in a legal partnership with my chosen woman. This allows further integration of our identities under the law and administration of my country.
You are right to be concerned about the alarming high divorce rate although the rate is not consistent among different groups so out may be in the higher end or the lower end depending on your class, race and upbringing.
The alternative for me would be not marriage is living together. This reduces flexibility and emotional security in terms of the combined household but if you don't may, that's where you are.

I always wanted just a religious marriage contract, but in order to even get that the mosque’s require you to get a marriage license first. I regret it big time I lost my insurance and don’t think the marriage will even last. I would have been happier with the religious contract first for at least 5 years and then open to the legal marriage. It’s hard getting married as a Muslim in the US
