My friend says kindness is more important to her than status and assets, thoughts?

By status and assets, I mean things like height, fitness, reputation, looks, charm, fashion, not just income and house and car.

She says she knows people who choose attraction and status over kindness and personality and they were trapped in extremely unhappy marriages.

The bible says a happy marriage can double your years on earth because love and respect has healing and protective properties for the body and mind.

That’s the party line. Women know what to say to appear altruistic because it’s still relatively new for them to be able to openly admit that looks matter. As a matter of evolutionary biology we are all hardwired to select potential mates based on physical appearance. The biological imperative is to keep the bloodline strong. One of the best ways to accomplish that is to produce attractive offspring, thereby ensuring they will find suitable mates.
Obviously it’s not the ONLY thing that matters, but it absolutely is the primary selection criteria for nearly all sexually reproductive organisms. Thanks to the economic system we’ve created, wealth is right up there too, as a selection focus for women. In generational terms, women are fairly new to economic independence. So we’re generations away from women not caring at all about a man’s willingness and ability to provide. We don’t necessarily have to act based upon our nature, but it’s still our nature.

It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Plenty of people are rich and kind. Some of the kindest and generous people that I know are quite wealthy.
