World's Tallest...

The last myTake I wrote in this series was on the World's Smallest Things

World's Tallest Building...

The Burj Khalifa, known as the Burj Dubai before its inauguration, is a megatall skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft) including the antenna and a roof height of 828 m (2,717 ft), the Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest structure in the world since it's completion in 2009. The building was opened in 2010 as part of a new development called Downtown Dubai and is designed to be the centrepiece of large-scale, mixed-use development.

World's Tallest Ever Tree...

The tallest tree ever measured was a type of eucalypt, an Australian hardwood tree measuring 132.6 m (435 feet) tall. In 1872 forester William Ferguson spotted an extremely tall mountain ash near the Watts River, Victoria, Australia. Around that time, multiple specimens of 140 m tall were reported in Victoria, mainland Australia. We cannot check these measurements anymore: all these trees have been logged... Mountain ash was and is an important construction material in Australia.

World's Tallest Person...

The tallest person in medical history is Robert Pershing Wadlow who was born at 6:30 a.m. at Alton, Illinois, USA on 22 February 1918, who when last measured on 27 June 1940, was found to be 2.72 m (8 ft 11.1 in) tall. Sadly Robert died at 1:30 a.m. on 15 July 1940 in a hotel in Manistee, Michigan, due to a septic blister on his right ankle caused by a brace, which had been poorly fitted only a week earlier.

World's Tallest Giraffe...

He lives at Folly Farm zoo in Saundersfoot and Tenby, Pembrokeshire, and stands at 6 meters (19.7 ft) tall - believed to be taller than any other animal in captivity.

The average giraffe stands at 4.5 meters (15 ft) from head to foot and Zulu towers over the three other male giraffes he shares his enclosure with at the zoo. Zulu weighs 1179.34 kgs (1.3 tonnes) and when he was moved from the Netherlands five years ago, even the specialist giraffe transporters were astounded by his build.

Although keepers have no way of accurately measuring 18-year-old Zulu, his height is estimated because his head just brushes under the 20ft doors of his enclosure.

World's Tallest Waterfall...

Angel Falls (Salto Ángel or Kerepakupai Vená) in Canaima National Park, Venezuela is the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall with a height of 979 m (3,212 ft) and a plunge of 807 m (2,648 ft). It is so tall that sometimes the water evaporates before it hits the ground.

World's Highest Road...

Aucanquilcha mining road is a mining road that was once used by trucks to climb this Chilean volcano to with a maximum altitude of 6,176 metres (20,262 ft).

  • Nice take! I worked on the Burj Khalifa.

There's a new building going up in Jeddah called the Kingdom tower that's going to break 1km height.

What Guys Said 8

  • A little add on to the tallest trees first part there are red wood, Sequoia sempervirens that measure up to 379.7 feet (115.7 m) tall. And these ancient trees are still around in the US in California along with the classic Redwoods that are famous for the burrels. XD. (As of the tallest present day trees.)

Nonetheless its cool that trees get so bloody tall as for most people anything over a 100ft would make them queasy or their stomach feel empty.
