I lack those kinds of survival skills/knowledge to make wise decisions here. It's one of the things I most wish to correct. Yet some good blades seem like something incredibly useful (maybe one which is hefted and balanced towards the blade, like an axe, as well as a sturdy knife balanced towards the center/handle), as well as something which might help me to start a fire. I'd also want to bring my wife along if I can although maybe I shouldn't because I don't want her to condemn her to a bad fate.
I got tempted to say my cast iron skillet but then I thought about whether I could find fats/oils to cook with and season/maintain it. Well, if I was knowledgeable I could maybe use animal fats if I knew how to extract them properly. But questions like this make me realize that I don't know much at all. I really wanna fix that but things like survival and hunting aren't popular here in Japan. I do know how to fish but I don't know how to survive like this with bare-minimal equipment.
I wish I had parents like that. I think I could make an okay shelter from my engineering background. Won a contest as a boy building a bridge out of chopsticks that was able to withstand over 100lbs. But I don't know things like how to make a fire without a lighter, or what things in the wild are safe to eat, or how to skin a squirrel and remove its guts.
Flint and steel
Knife
Fishing pole/line/hook
Metal pot
Maybe a tarp for the last thing
Or if I know it will be cold then a sleeping bag (if I die the first cold night, the other stuff is useless)
I might substitute a magnifying glass for the flint and steel.
-Water filter
-Lighter
-Gun or weapon (sword, machete, bow)
-MREs
-Rope
I wouldn't say that. I'm the "silent but deadly" type. I keep to myself usually unless provoked, then watch out! LOL
Swiss Army knife, flint, blanket, hatchet, Max Riemelt
Yup! Lol
Johnny was my #1 for many years. Until I saw Max Riemelt. I can’t explain the crush I have on Max. 🤣 Never has an actor had that effect on me. Lol
Opinion

- my heavy duty axe
- my brand new machete
- my best knife
- a very good pot
- and this lady...

A hatchet
A swiss army knife
lots of rope
A solar panel array
A radio/ light source
Nice plan.
I was thinking more along the lines of 5 x 55 gallon drums of hard apple cider.
Duck tape, back scratcher, dog, 6 pack of pepsi, and lip balm.
Fire striker, distiller to remove salt from sea water, satellite phone to call for help, machete, and a shovel.
1# Flint
2# Knife
3# Axe
4# A metal pot for cooking or purifying still water
5# Water distiller
Anything else I'd need I could probably make from the materials on the island.
