Do you believe in the saying violence is never the answer?

I don't, I believe violence is sometimes the answer, now don't get me wrong I'm not saying violence is always the answer but I do believe that violence is sometimes the answer and in some situations its the only answer, I believe it's very unrealistic to say it's NEVER the answer when clearly in some positions it's your only answer, for example if someone breaks into your house and they try to rob you, what other form of solution do you have for that situation, tell them kindly to put your stuff down and kindly walk out the door? Call police? Which let's get to that form of solution as well, when police does find this person, how are they going to solve it? With violence, they will throw them on the ground and chain them and if they don't comply they will either tase them or shoot them so isn't that the only answer for that situation because simply pushing them is already a form of violence so unless the person let's themselves get chained and taken then the only form of fixing that problem is with violence so that saying is just bull because simply defending yourself against an attacker will involve some kind of violence, so do y'all agree with violence sometimes being necessary or do you just believe violence is never the answer?

Violence is sometimes the answer, yes.

I think it also matters what happens after the violence.

Sometimes, people are beyond reasoning. And if they're people who hold power over others, and they're not listening to reason and removing yourself from the situation isn't an option, violence can be the only solution.

I think, where possible, it's good to not resort to violence. However, that isn't always possible.

Revolution is never pacifistic. Violent revolution is the only kind of revolution.

As I said above, it's also what happens after the violence. It's important to know when to use it, but also know how to stop it - it is easy for violence to escalate to levels that make it a problem as well.

I think it would be more appropriate to say violence is rarely the answer (but not never). In situations as you mention above, sometimes the only way to counter violence is to employ violence yourself. Self-defense situations clearly call for that.

This is one of the most accurate but also profound quotes I can answer this question with. Violence is not an answer but it is a necessity when peaceful solutions fail. By nature, humans are prone to violence, it has very much to do with our animal instincts which are derived from the most basic of concepts. I must eat, I must procreate, I must live. Years of evolution can not erase instinct and as the Joker said to Batman:

"When the chips are down, these civilized people.. they will eat each other."

I love movies obviously but simply put, peace is not an answer to everything as much as violence isn't. The situation is what decides which one.

I will put your scenario on perspective...

around here, it could not be one person or two, breaking into your house... it could be an entire convoy of sicarios from cartels, at least eight of them, it could be the Feds, State Police, or the Army

now, if they had no care for you and bad intentions... your violence against them will be worth nothing, you're still going to get killed if you do not open the door to them, they will just blow it up anyway and if you get stupid with them, they will blow you up as well, and your family, your pets... a couple of neighbors if they get curios too

violence is usually NOT the best answer... unless you want to bring more violence, then it is the answer

I have worked as a doorman (helping a friend out at a very busy nightclub) and what you have to endure there is very difficult, but restraint is always the key until they lay a hand on you!
