I love rock and consider myself very passionate about it. Think the Beatles, KISS, Mötley Crüe, Slaughter, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, etc. My family, classmates, and coworkers all give me shit for it. Is it just them or are they right?
if they say they like rock then mention Beatles then it's clear we have different definitions of rock. So probably not much in common. While I go listen to Three Days Grace or disturbed.
I am not one who likes the old stuff that people call rock when it's slow boring stuff that no one could ever start a mosh pit to. But that's just my view on it. Also a way more metal person as you can tell.

My exGF that I wanted to marry was like that. In fact, I met her because of a Metallica / Queensrÿche concert in 1989.

I have no particular opinion on people who like harder heavier music. I personally like music that's both hard and soft. It's the quality of the chord progressions, drumming, symphonic accompaniment, etc... that I measure music with.
