How common is it to marry someone you're not in love with?

Even if you end up staying with a good person, you're faithful because it's just not in your character to cheat, you'll never lust over them and they were never your first option. You just settle for whatever reason.

How common is that? To marry someone you're not in love with and never will be.

You still care for them and love them as a great companion though but the infatuation stage never developed and never will. You're not crazy madly in love with them at all.

Arranged marriage still happen in many places in the world, and love is overrated.

Does it happen? Absolutely. But if you’re faithful. Love them. Respect them. Just not….. in love. Then stick by them.

I know a couple in that position but they both were honest with each other about marrying to form a family and a life companion. Neither of them are in love and both are ok with it.
In that case, if it's not hurting them and it's something they agree with... I guess it's fine.

I wasn’t nitpicking. Text often screws up meaning. I’m more leaning to what each of those people will miss out on if they come across a much better match. Then they are stuck. Marriage isn’t really necessary.

The lady wanted to have a child in a marriage and the guy was ok with it. She was already 35 when she got married. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that position is.

Well. If they both agreed on it and are faithful. Then it’s fine. It’s their relationship not anyone else’s to be involved with.

If they love and care for each other. That matters most. There are people who marry over infatuation and end up miserable later.

It’s like so many people just on GAG just want to immediately marry someone. Sometimes it can take years or being with someone to know if you want to marry them or not.

I don’t mean 10 or 20 years or more. I don’t agree with stringing someone alone. But to meet someone for the first time and want to be married in under a year…. Yikes.
