Does anyone else have this problem?

Question

Whenever I want to get working on anything that has to do with water - washing hands, filling up a pot, etc. - I suddenly have to take a whiz. Even if I am doing well with no urge to pee, as soon as I turn on that water it is like a magnet to the bathroom. What is it about running water that makes me want to pee?

Yes happens to me quite often, but not just when running water, just standing up and feeling the sudden urge... it's too late, I'm already seeping, all the way to the bathroom. I've recently started wearing male guards, sometimes I just can't hold it in and soak the guards.

I've scheduled an appt with a Urologist. But I'm also 72.

Yea, that's why I make sure to pee before I start doing the dishes.

It's a Pavlov's dog type of response. Supposedly it's the sound of running water that triggers it, but I suspect just thinking of running water would trigger it also. It's similar to laughing being contagious. It's a mental suggestion.

Most of the time. At Selective Service physicals- way back in the day- if someone couldn't produce a urine sample, the docs would sit you in a bank of chairs next to a shower which was turned on. (Now, WHY would a shower be aroused? I have no idea). Now, if only my new puppy would poop when I do - - - - - -

There was a MASH episode on this subject. There is something to that natural resonance that causes a "flow".  Can't say mine is that bad, but near streams... yes.

It sure has connection. I can not tell for sure if I feel the strong urge to pee or not. Sometime I may. Running water can be soothing for some. Irritating for some. Sticking finger or hand in cold water can make urge stronger or make no urge to urge

Daniela it's a sensory sound trigger. It's interesting that it is. But it only affects me if I already have a full bladder.

That's normal for lots of people. I knew a guy who couldn't pump gas without almost pissing his pants. He literally would have to put the nozzle in start it and then walk away. Otherwise he'd piss himself.

It's a classic. Best to clench and let the need subside because if you give in it will become stronger.
