Can someone actually be hopeless?

Hold up hear me out, so we all have felt hopeless before and that's just how we eventually feel but are we hopeless? No matter the situation you aren't really hopeless completely, you always end up building hope at some point again and even if that hope is a little bit, no matter the situation if you really think of it, even when giving up, it's not that you have zero hopes that whatever it is won't be that way, it's that you have just don't want to try anymore, maybe I'm just tired and I'm making shit out of nothing, I'll see if this makes sense when I wake up.

Having hope, for me, means identifying a point you want to reach. It's different than a goal. Goals are a level above what your current accomplishments. Hope is an aspiration that helps me out of whatever doldrum I have found myself experiencing.

Yes, I believe we can feel that way. But I do think that it's harder for a situation to actually being objectively hopeless as in there being no other move to aid us in practically reaching a certain goal.

kinda depends on like the situation but yeah most peeps aren't hopeless. its easy to feel hopeless yet like a few years later you doin a lot better and no longer hopeless

I don't think we are hopeless. I believe that, as a sentient species, our brains always seek for alternatives and refuse to accept there is no hope.

They can feel hopeless but it never is hopeless. Hopelessness is an illusion but it can be a pretty damn strong illusion for some people. It is all about perceptions but the truth is that perceptions change.

and it is about that... the overwhelming and debilitating emotions, when it is hurting deeply into your soul and the core of who you are, that's when the reasoning escapes...

even if you knew well that there are options, and ways out of it... that just doesn't make things different anyway, that's how hopeless can one feel at times, yes...

Hope is an emotion. We all have the average number of them so I doubt it. Unless you’re a sociopath.

But feeling hopeless can be a state, like depression. And to break it you need to do what anyone would do, break out of whatever bubble you have built.
