Why does this shy guy stare?

Staring means interest I get it but if a shy guy who you are good friends with stare at you constantly, what does that mean?

He's not shy around me, but he's a nerdy type and hangs with mostly boys. I'm supposedly friend-zoned and know he isn't looking for a girlfriend, but why does he stare and smile at me so much? He's friends with the same female coworkers friends with and setumes hang with them at work, but I only catch him staring at me.

Sounds like it's exactly what you think to me. He's interested in you. He's not shy around you because he's comfortable around you. Just not comfortable enough to try anything. The nerdy types will someone and not do a thing about. They'll admire from afar and that's about it unless he get daring at some point.

Yea...tell that to all the married nerds with loving families these days. Aside from the fact that nerds are smart and know what to look for, maybe he's just polite? I tend to look right back at people who look at me as well. Nerds are better at focusing their concentration as well. And please get over this friend zone crap. There's either chemistry or there isn't. If you're with someone already, avoid contact. Nerds like games, but women aren't fun to play.
