I believe the point of staying healthy is to at least attempt to live a long life.Of course other things can take you out of here quickly like accidents etc,but being healthy contributes to happiness while you're living, and hopefully not a painful death when its time for you to go.It helps feeling like you have a purpose for living. Those who feel like they have a purpose for being here, understand being healthy and wanting to extend their life (hopefully) for as long as possible. Those without a sense of purpose or reason usually look forward to going at anytime,or dying at a young age...My opinion is because of the people I know anyway.
Nelson Mandela is sadly on his way out of this world. But thank goodness that he had some extra time to live and see his children grow after spending years of his life in prison. That was his PURPOSE.So now at 94,this mans life may soon come to an end.Whether due to genetics or keeping healthy, seeing someone who made such an incredible difference in this world encourages me to want to be healthy, and live the best life I can.Because I do believe I have a purpose for being here...and I would like to fulfill whatever that is.And when its time for me to go,then let it be.But the time I do have in this world will be me living healthy and happily.I want to live and thrive for as long as I can.Afterall, life really isn't that long anyway...so why not make it a good run.

It's a really long story but being healthy and living healthy just makes life easier often times. For example in the few hunter gather societies that still exist scientist observed that most chronic desease and food allergies we have don't exist. If you're a girl labour and giving birth was observed to be significantly shorter and less intense.
The thing is that most people these days die slow. They spend the last 5 or 10 years of their lives basically eating medicine and then maybe at the very end spend weeks or months in the bed, sometimes unable to breathe or eat themselves. What most people consider ideal however is to just drop dead someday. And for that you need to work. You'll likley won't just drop dead someday but people who eat healthy and stay active even in old age die more sudden than others
Not ot mention most people actually feel better living healthy, because our body does realize your doing yourself a favor
so that as long as you live, you could live your life to its fullest. What would you rather do, sit around being obese and suffering diabetes and lung cancer, or going to places, traveling and hiking and meeting friends?
Correlated to a healthy lifestyle: you get a nice metabolism, if you push yourself you can do any physical activity imaginable, whether it be dancing, sports, fighting, improved reflexes and so on.
Your body naturally dies out. Your vision, hearing, eyesight, all decline as you age. If you live healthy you'll be able to slow down the decline of your senses...Obviously if you care about them now, you'll care about them in the future. And this includes the function of your bones, muscles and all your organs internal and external, along with a healthy immune system that keep you alive right now( never mind years from now)
Second, one great thing about life is the vast knowledge that surround us. Every individual should do his/her part in ensuring his/her brain gets all the nutrients it needs, to continue to learn and retain everything s/he can get a hold on.
Honestly in short, the healthier you are, the better outlook you get in life and the more enjoyable it really becomes. Its all about looking at life in a positive way.
There isn't any eternal point. It's all the best probable choice and illusions according to a particular individual. Existentially, there isn't any destination to it, but just the travel, which you can make in any way you want. Nothing has any value or meaning to it outside of your own, and outside the moment.

I truly believe you should do what makes you happy no one is going to live on the earth for 100 years do what makes you happy.
Think about it What's better you being healthy and you're not being very happy about it or you being happy when you die because you had a nice happy life...
I have seen too many people saying oh you have diabetes or you have cancer because you're fat! I find that extremely absurd because I have seen people who have cancer and they're not overweight. I have seen people who have severe cancer and they are not fat. Overweight is a factor with health problems it's not the main cause! Stress can also cause you to have a heart attack and not just overweight. Ex my lacrosse coach he wasn't fat but he had heart disease because he constantly was stressed out he constantly screamed.. even myself I'm a little overweight I don't eat bad food, every time I go to a doctor they tell me I have perfect health they do blood work they see that I have good help I have no health problems I have no high blood pressure I have no diabetes I have no heart disease...
I even find it extremely absurd some doctor say oh well if you eat less and move more you're going to lose weight there is no medical studies that can back up that claim. The only studies we have that helps is if you practice intermittent fasting if you eat one to two meals a day and you have an 8 hour gap in between meals and you avoid processed food.
These kind of practices have medical studies to back them up that's how a lot of celebrities such as Rob from Always Sunny in Philadelphia that's how he lost weight. Yes rob/ mac worked out but he also did this type of fasting same goes for Glenn who plays Dennis from Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Most importantly there are studies that proves that you can eat whatever you want when you break a fast just got to make sure that the food is fresh and it's healthy you do not have to force yourself to eat fish or eat something you don't want to eat... not to mention there are medical studies that proves that this kind of alternates One Day meal called omad type of fasting it can help with diabetes it could help with heart disease it could help with ketones where you are less likely to have Alzheimer's or brain disorders so this method doesn't just help with weight loss it helps overall. However the secret is don't force yourself to be healthy gradually do it!To live a long long life is a curse in a way because almost everyone that you will have ever known and ever loved You will have lost they will die and in the end you will become the Sole caretaker of what used to be shared memories that is a very lonely place to be, we have double plus extended to human lifespan from just 100 years ago but we have not added to the quality of life in fact in a consumer Society like the United States we regard human beings as Commodities and when we no longer feel that they are productive we throw them aside stash them in nursing home and there people sit and wait and slowly fade awau into nothingness. I know that's bleak but that's reality hopefully that's not the end of things my hope is that my time here on Earth is just a time for choosing and that a world outside of this broken dirty Lost World exist maybe this world how it should have been all its wounds on this side of things would be veins of gold in the other no death no pain and sorrow just happiness and peace and love and joy forever that's what I hope
exercise and trying to eat right is closest to the fountain of youth we can get. I lost 80 pds feeling the best I've felt in the past 4 years. went through a bit of depression. I don't want to be one of those people that have to get one of their walls cut out of their house and be fork lifted out. can't walk, barely breathing etc tons of health problems. id rather be how iam now for as long as I can. I plan to lose at least another 10-20 pds also considering a career in the military so can't be out of shape.
We can't avoid death, but we can often postpone it.
We can impact our quality of life from now till then.
We can impact our mental states by being physically active and healthy.
We can be more able to do activities we enjoy, whether its sports or simply being able to walk and climb and play with our kids and eventually grandkids.
We can look f***ing hot. There are people who eat like sh*t, smoke and drink like crazy, yet live long lives and there are people who eat healthy, exercise and end up sick. Sometimes it makes me question how can that be possible, but when it comes down to it, those are only like precautionary measures, but if something is meant to happen, it's going to happen and it's out of our control.
My pretty students in China shout, 'handsome', when I come into the room.
I don't need any more incentive than that!
But let's get serious..by being healthy, I won't have to take medicine and give up exercising when still young because of disabilities due to poor diet or heart conditions, diabetes, etc. etc.Exactly the way I feel! This is why I regularly boot dilaudid, have unprotected sex with prostitutes, and play Russian Roulette with my retarded cousin. I'm here for a good time, not a long time. After all, life sucks and then you die. Right?
Uhm, because it's not about how long you live, but how you live. Staying in shape and in good health not only extends your life, but also opens up more opportunities for you to be happy. I'm in shape, so my tennis game has improved drastically. I like playing good. It makes me happy. I feel good about myself. I'm also capable of more. My body is active and fit. My mind is sharper. My muscles are stronger. I react faster. I can do so much more. What other reasons do you need?
couple of reasons. You could live longer for one. You also could be in your 40's looking like you're still in your 20's or be in your 20'a looking like you're 40. You could start experiencing severe stomach pains and chest pains that you have to live with. I'm 37 and I get compliments all the time saying I look great. but I've been exercising and working out since I was 19.
You die at the age of 90 while still feeling good
Or
You looked like complete sh*t already at the age of 30 and at the age of 40 your life which was full of agony finally ended
Is there a difference? The same reason we try to do anything better. Because there's virtue in success and discipline.
Why make 40k a year instead of minimum wage? You live better, have more fun in life.
Why eat healthy, exercise? Because it's better to wear 33x32 jeans than 57x32 jeans, haha. When you take care of your body, it's simply a better quality of life.save money, stay pain-free, live longer, have more energy, less of a chance of arthritis and cancer and degenerative disc disease and a ton of other diseases. Why would you want to increase your risk for all of those painful and ruinous diseases? I do agree though that the culture puts way too much emphasis on losing weight and such.
Do you like long, miserable, painful episodes? Because if you don't it's best not to neglect the body and let it naturally decline down that long, miserable, painful road. Just saying.
yes that's why I spend my day pray and have fun :) I'm gonna die anyway right. I don't think I'm gonna die soon if I didn't do exrsice or eat healthy. I mean my grandma spent all her life working and don't eat healthy but thank god she still alive she's 82 :)
I've wondered what the payback time is. I spend one 1/2 hrs in the gym 6 days a week. How many hrs. have I lengthened my life? I'll probably wind up laying in bed for years because my heart is still in good shape & it won't give out.
I feel like we're a second away from talking about suicide
so you feel good in between birth and death.
a morbidly obese chain smoking alcoholic might outlive a someone healthy and fit, but who do you think would have had more fun an gotten more out of life.So one can live their finite life to the fullest.
Since our time on this planet as a live being is limited, might as well make sure you are as functional physically as possible to fully enjoy it!yup. let's all feel like sh*t,live in pain and put our family in debt with medical expenses. wooot. yolo.
Simple.
Would you rather live a short, miserable life of physical pain and agony and not even live to see your children grow up.
or
Would you rather live a long happy life and get to see your grand children play in your yard and have a good time?
